  • Car cover for hurricanes?

    HI Folks,

I like in Miami. Two years ago I got hit by four hurricanes in one year. Last year there were three. Wilma destroyed my car (it was only a Focus). But at least with the insurance money I was able to get my current ride a brand new lovely Mustang.... my pride and joy.

I have no garage and am thinking that a car cover may at least help it resists scratches and small dents from flying debris and shingles, etc. There is Ernesto headed my way later this afternoon, so it's too late to cover it for this one. I'm thinking of going to the airport and parking in long term parking and taking the bus home.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what kind/brand of cover may help me out for future hurricanes? I know nothing is going to protect it from really heavy debris that would normally break the windows, but perhaps it could protect from scratches and dents.

Thanks for any advice. I have included a pic of my beautiful baby to encourage you to want to help me/her out.

Well, no car cover is going to be able to stop a tree branch.

But, what you could do is call up Covercraft, and ask for some fabric samples. The heaviest they have is the Evolution.

Then, you could always go to a Army/Navy store, buy a big padded blanket or 3, and strap it over the cover.
