  • White water rafting

Need some input. First of all I love to raft! Been several times. First of June on the Arkansas in CO is a real ride!
Some of our church youth went rafting and said it was class 4-5 rapids. I thought you needed to be an expert only to do those?
Could be wrong here. Just got me thinking.

I went with my Scout troop here in CA to go rafting on the Merced River, and we did all class 3's with 2 class fours thrown in there. Sending a bunch of kids on all class 4's and 5's sounds a little intense. So yes, class 5's are most likely expert only and class 4's are experienced only.

I've also been rafting 3 times on the American River. The fork we went on were all class 3's but were still a lot of fun. (and caused me to be thrown out of the raft. )

I thought it was a little intense too.
I found out on one of the myspace blogs.
Interesting reading. Wonder if parents know?
