  • Phone Stolen

Just venting a wee bit, but had my mobile phone stolen from me while at the cinema on Thursday night! Not a real disaster in the sense that the phone is insured and also barred so no-one can use it, but all of my phone numbers I just kept on my phone... Lesson learned there, as I have now obviously lost them all! I now have an old school phone book where I write the numbers down! Not to mention a lot of photohraphs which were stored on that phone have now disappeared... Ho, hum - these things happen.

I know exactly what you mean. Last year mine was stolen at a club here. I didn't care that much about the phone but the worse thing about it is indeed that you've just lost all your contacts / photographs

      Sorry to hear that.

I alway back my stuff up. I had Nextel for years and always backed up my contacts with a USB Data cable and iDEN software. I now switched to Sprint PCS and they have a nice feature for $2.99 a month all your contacts are backed up on there systems. Any time you add or modify a contact on your phone it automatically makes the changes on there end too. Makes it nice when you lose/gets stole/upgrade phones.
I usually hotsync my palm pilot every night. If I do lose it, I only lose one day of data. I have lost everything once and its not fun trying to remember everything you had in it and some special notes or number for a particular contact.

When you get a new phone go on eBay and look for a data cable for your phone if it doesn't come with one (lots of new phones include them now so you can upload music to them). There is a software called BitPim that I've been using with my LG phone and you can backup all your stuff, plus make your own ring tones for free and I think you can even use the phone as a modem in some cases. For the $10 I spend on getting the data cable (which lets you charge the phone off USB too) I don't know how I lived without it.

I love my SLVR (just as a suggestion). Not for anyone far-sighted, or with fat fingers. I'm 18 so its a cool phone to me, but to a professional dont know...

Anyways I have I-Tunes and love having it on my phone.

Sorry to hear about the phone being stolen. I have been meaning to get a new phone and put all my numbers into a program like Excel. But I still haven't yet.
