    Re: rear wheel drive

From a personal standpoint, having cut my teeth on rwd then going to fwd in the 80's and switching back and forth since then I would have to say rwd all the way. To me the vehicle handles better is more responsive and is just a better driving experiance. IMHO

My daily driver has been various models of Audis with quattro for the last 7 years.. '87 Audi 200TQ (US 5000TQ), '94 S4 and now '96 A6q.. Miss the S4 sometimes, but with gas around $1.80/litre, I'm happy to drive a diesel now..

Quattro always. This is my third Quattro, I would never have it any other way.

          Re: rear wheel drive

Personally, I prefer front wheel drive just because it just feels better to me. I also like to peel out with front wheel drives more than rear wheel drices.

I like rear wheel drive cars because you get better hook up. front wheel drive has tourq steer in most cars with that set up.

              Re: rear wheel drive

I like my FWD. I can control a car that has very slight understeer (my car) more than a rear drive with plenty of oversteer.

Like I said earlier rwd. However I was reading in the paper today that after thae 08 camaro gm is delaying any more intros of new rwd's. They site that they cannot come up with a way to achieve the 30% increase in gas mileage the goverment is asking for.

                  Re: rear wheel drive

i prefer rear wheel drive over front wheel drive. i also prefer rear wheel drive in the snow i have more control over the vehicle.positraction rearends go great in the snow 4x4 is also excellent as long as the primary drive is rear wheel.

Rear wheel drive everytime for fun - true sports cars are rear wheel drive and lets face it oversteer is great! Front wheel drive for commuting - safe, predictable and lets face it boring.

                        Re: rear wheel drive

I think that AWD is best for those that want to get from point A-B. In the winter you have carefree traction. I dislike it because it is harder to burnout/drift/race.

I have a truck that has a 4WD button, but in the winter/snow, I try and never use it (sort of a challenge). I LOVE oversteer in slick streets (I am not making a joke).

FWD and RWD are both fun, although I tend to prefer RWD. There is a reason that Ferrari's are RWD!

I enjoy torque steer in FWD cars, Esp. at the drag strip

                        Overall, RWD wins
                        Luck is probability taken personally!

I love RWD...theres nothing better. FWD drives really weird in my opinion, especially when you're turning. RWD is also a lot better for doing fun stuff in. I've never driven a AWD car, at least that I know of, so I can't comment on that.

                            Re: rear wheel drive

yay for bumping up old threads for sure. I love my RWD. I can spin around corners without even trying.. haha(when its wet) and i have plenty of traction if i need to be nice to the gas. my dad's camry is not nearly as fun to drive and torque steer *****. I'd never buy a FWD car for all those reasons. plus who heard of burnouts in FWD? pshhhh.
