I like the feeling of RWD over FWD. The steering feels better than a FWD, but i drive a FWD . Also most sports cars are RWD or AWD with a rear drive bias

I'll go with AWD... course this is my first car, and my dad has always had the more full size kind of cars, Park Avenue, Avalon, etc, so not really the best comparison.

I've never driven an AWD so can't make any judgement on that side.

I guess when it comes to FWD or RWD, most people agree that RWD is an amazing experience. The handling of the car is super, throttle response is “wow”.

Since we do have some snow here in the winter and a lot of rain all the year, I’m happy my car is a FWD because a RWD requires “adapted driving skills” since you can easily slip on wet surfaces.

I remember a colleague with a BMW and was even at times unable to control it at 10 km/u which is around 6 mile/h. (snow and ice).

So in the winter I’d definitely choose a FWD but whenever spring / summer is there, I’d get the RWD out of the garage pronto.

I never have, and hopefully never will own a FWD....

I don't like AWD for the reason you can't do burnouts

Front wheel steer provides a much better handling car if it is done right. Done wrong and you get excessive torque steer.

Maintenance and repairs are going to be higher in front wheel drive.

                    Funny

Anyway... RWD for now, until there is a little snow on the ground and you have 'summer' tires.

Really, RWD is fun but I guess I don't really care long as its 'done right' as mentioned above.

While you can’t judge a car simply by it’s drive layout, all else being equal I would suggest that rear wheel drive is preferable for superior handling and “go fast fun.”

The physics may be arguable but lets look at some “empirical data”:

                      Manufacturers’ choices:
RWD: Ferrari (all), Lotus (almost all), Porsche (all but the AWD), Jaguar (all but the AWD) , Mercedes (all but the AWD), Maserati (all), Aston Martin (all).
FRD: everybody’s econoboxes, most companies’mid range, a few companies’ upper tier cars.

                      Models within a manufacturer’s range:
RWD: Honda NSX, Toyota Supra, Ford GT, Chevy Corvette
FRD: Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Taurus, Chevy Malibu

Racing cars, designed from the ground up for speed and nothing but:
RWD: Formula 1, Champcar, IRL, Sports Prototypes (Le Mans, etc)
                      FRD: none

                      Road course lap records:
RWD: Nürburgring, Monza, Monaco, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Imola, Zandvoort, Silverstone, Hockenheimring, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Laguna Seca, Targa Florio, Circuit de la Sarthe (Le Mans), Spa-Francorchamps, Brands Hatch, etc, etc, etc…
                      FRD: ???

                      PC.

I'll take a rear driver any day. I don't like torque steer. Granted, I love front drive when there is 8 inches of snow on the ground, but around here that only happens 2 or 3 times a year. I like to do smokey burnouts too.

I love my RWD (G35 6MT Coupe) for sport, and my AWD Outback for daily driving, especially when the rain and snow get fierce.

Never enjoyed any FWD cars, and I've had many.
