  • Meguiars Cleaner wax Comment.

I normally use the Meguiars Gold car wax on my SS. Decided maybe the paint could use some cleaning, but I don't know how to use an orbital buffer. I don't want to screw up the paint. I really want to go to a detailing 101 class.

So.........I bought a can of Meguiars cleaner wax. I have not taken it off yet. Waiting for it to dry. But that stuff was hard to put on. I got hand cramps just getting it on the applicator. I was thinking about heating it up. (Could this stuff have gone bad on the shelf at the store?)

I will comment on the results later.

Not impressed with the results either. I'll probably give the stuff away. Won't even use it on the Honda or Jeep. Too much work for resluts. I'll stick with the Meguiars Gold. Looks like I used turtle wax. I'll rewax it with the gold next weekend. Heading to a car show I need to be at in 10 min. I can make it with the SS. It will be a fun ride.

I bought some Cleaner Wax (Liquid) a while back and I have done a few cars with it and I was impressed with the ease of application and results from just one product. I will agree if you do want that next step in your shine then paint cleaner and polish topped with Gold Class will be better. But for some of us that are lazy every now and then the Cleaner Wax works. Perhaps the problem was with the paste or applying too thick a coat. Hope you learn to enjoy it because it is a good product.

The liquid probably would have been better. In fact I have some of the Mothers liquid. I just don't use it. This is the paste, and the paste was hard as a rock. It was actually hard to get on the applicator sponge. I will probably wash the car this weekend, and wax it with the Meguiars Gold Paste I normally use.

          Hi Dave,

Sorry to hear of your results using our paste cleaner/wax, the paste version does in fact require a little more technique to use versus the liquid.

If you call our Customer Care Hotline Team at 1-800-347-5700 and cite this thread, they will send you a replacement bottle of our Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax in the liquid version or ColorX, another cleaner/wax we offer with more cleaning ability that is also very popular with enthusiasts.

I'll send the link to this thread to the head of Customer Care so they will be expecting a call from you. We want to make sure you get the results you're looking for.

            Wow, Thanks.

That's not what I expected. I expected someone to tell me I was doing it wrong, or the paste had been on the shelf at the store too long.

            Thanks again,
            Dave
