    Hey

I have a 04' Jeep Liberty with a 2.5" Lift and my family and I use it once or twice a month for a weekend of offroading, and it is used a daily driver the remainder of the time. I recently used the Quik Clay System and after doing about 1/8th of the hood the clay was completly beige...I am assuming from the little sand particles from offroading, but is that a bad sign because before I clayed the car the paint was smooth as glass if you ran your hand across it...am I doing something wrong or is this a good sign???

    Thanks

    I'm a little confused...

Your paint seemed smooth, now you clayed, and it feels rough?

It is a good sign if you are removing dirt. After yo ufinish the hood, run your hand across, and see if it feels as smooth as you recall, or smoother.

the beige color is often times just a film of dirt that had built-up onto the finish.

Usually claying a finish that feel pretty smooth will take it to a higher level and make it feel even smoother.

Don't forget to apply some wax at a minimum as claying removes both above surface bonded contaminants and most if not all of your previously applied wax.

The car felt really smooth before I clayed but I knew that after having the car for two years there had to be some contaminants, so I clayed it but came up with a clay bar covered in a sand like color after on doing a corner of the hood...it is even smoother now, but I just want to make sure I didnt do something wrong and/or harmful to the paint.

        Thanks for the replies

P.S. I first washed the car throughly with Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner, then used ScratchX for a couple little tree branch scratches, then applied the Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner by hand, used the Quik Clay system, followed by the Deep Crystal System Polish and the Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax. The Car looks great!!

I see you're located in California?

We have people that attend out classes from San Diego and San Fransisco, perhaps plan a trip to Irvine in the future and attending one of our Saturday classes?

That sounds really cool!! I live in sunny San Diego and considering I dont have a license, I would need my parents to drive me up...Do you guys do classes every Saturday and is there a fee, not that I wouldnt be willing to pay, just asking...I love to detail cars and my parents love having the cleanest cars in the nieghborhood, but I think I can do better and would really like to get some tips!!

            Thanks

My son is 6 and loves to help wash & wax the cars. I even have him polishing the chrome rims on the SS. I also have a Jeep that I use for offraoding and winter driving. Poor thing gets waxed twice a year. I actually like it covered in mud.

One of my friends is always late. We went to meet to go mountain biking with some other friends. I left a message for him Saying "you're late" "Catch Up" and what trail we took on the back window of my jeep. He thought it was pretty funny.
