  • Barry (Meguiar's) Favorite Products

I know that this topic may seem really out there, but it has been something that always intrigued me.

As the president and CEO of one of the world's finest companies in car care, it's obvious to all of us that Mr. Meguiar has a passion for both his company and the consumers, detailers, and just-plain car fanatics like myself that use Meguiar's products on a regular basis. Since we are here on this forum, we all have a deep interest, maybe call it an obsession, for making cars look their best without any compromise.

I have always wondered what products from the Meguiar's lineup that Mr. Meguiar chooses to use on his collection of automobiles (and I'm sure that it is a very impressive collection, at that). Does he go with something "modern and high-tech" such as NXT wax? Or perhaps something "old school" like #16?

His taste in automobile appearance is without question one of the finest, so I am curious to know what his "go-to" wax is.

Good Question and you have to wonder if he does find the time to actually detail his vehciles himself or if someone does it for him. I would know if it were me, I would want to do it myself since that is what my corporation was all about and what my love would be for; nobody would be taking that joy away from me.

true, but he employs some really ultra good detailers, so he might just get them to detail his cars for them because he just wants the best for his car ...he's Car Crazy

He certainly has a passion for what he does in his career. I wonder if this carries over into his hobbies and you can find him polishing down the fenders of his Ford GT on a nice, sunny California morning on the weekend?

Having been fortunate enough to meet Mr. Meguiar ("call me Barry") on a few occasions at Meguiar's Saturday clinics and Wednesday Night Open Garage sessions, it is my understanding that, surprisingly, he does NOT have a large collection of cars. His daily is a Mercedes S Class sedan, and of course he has the black Ford GT, but I believe that a '57 Chevy may well be the only other car in his "collection". I've heard him say that he collects car shows, not cars, and he's always travelling to one show or another somewhere around the globe. His frequent flyer miles must be impressive!!

What products are used on his cars are, I believe, at the discretion of the Meguiar's detailing experts who care for them.

Oh, and you should know that the affable, smiling, friendly guy you see on the Car Crazy TV show is the same guy who pops in at the odd Saturday or Wednesday sessions. From what I can tell, the man is no different in person than he is on TV. Very genuine, very refreshing.

Yeah I met Barry at a wednesday class. I had never seen his TV show and I did not even know who he was. He came up to me shook my hand and introduced himself as Barry then asked me questions about my car, he said he liked it and went to talk to some other people. I told one of the interns there that "Boy he's a nice guy!" he then told me who I was just talking too. Super nice guy!
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.
