  • new 911 turbo is the greatest car ever!

Today I tried the 911 Turbo!! and IMO its the best car ever!!!!! I have always been a Porsche fan and out of all the car I have tied (944, 911 Carrera S and a GT2) I think that the 911 turbo is by far the best of the bunch!

I got a total of 45mins in the car, but most of that was driving to the race track ...stalled it once ( getting a bit rusty at driving stick) but other that the car it was wild!! it was like a part of your body, the car turns exactly where you want it to with no effort at all

I wish I had pics of me in that car because I may never be able to afford the insurance on it

Clearly you have never driven an Enzo! haha but really the new Turbo is amazing! 0-60 in 3.7 is getting it done...but I would still take you in the ZO6!

I sat in a Z06 a few days before that because the person just down the street got a new Z06... he parks it backwards in his driveway so people will awe

The new Turbo seems great. With its new turbos and sleek lines, it is sure to be a winner. 0-60 times should be impressive if you get the sport chrono option. The handling should be the best part, though. Where did you test it? I haven't even seen one on the streets and I've been looking around for a while!

For the ultimate drive, I would easily take a Carrera GT or one of the street legal 911 GT1's - one of the rarest Porsches of all time.

yes i think it had the sport chrono package because it had some sort of chrono thingie on the dash.. i had no clue how to use it but a nice touch. and it had the overboost button as it was explained to me. The car is not mine... i am not sure i was even supposed to be driving it but w/e it all good. It was actaully the first one I've seen as well because I didn't think it came out until Aug. but i guess i was wrong.

my ultimate drive is the RUF RT12 with a top speed of over 230mph how can you not want it!

Love the new 997 turbo. I have driven a few. Beautiful car. I really like the new shifter design a good improvement over the previous design. I came close to stalling it when I first took off, really have to keep increasing throttle as you release the clutch. Had the light flywheel feel to it.
Did the one you drive have the ceramic brake option? If so, whats were your thoughts on the track?

I have not driven a Porsche with the PCCB, but I belong to the PCA. I've heard that the first generation of ceramic brakes were great on the street, but on the track, they had trouble with brake pads. The disks themselves were not the problem, it was that the pads were doing something strange and getting too hot.

The new generation has a different cooling pattern on the disks. This was released on the Carrera GT and is on the 997. Supposedly, they both feel the same. On the track, the new disks perform a lot better. I've heard of a guy who raced a GT2 with pccb and had a common pad problem. Now, the factory racers use the same set of pads and disks for 6 races without replacing them!

In my opinion, if you are using your car on the street, don't go for the pccb. If you are going to track your car or use it at DE events, go for the upgrade.

                New brake pattern:

                Old drill pattern:

Sorry, I haven't read on how to post images in attachments.

good to know that someone atleast came close to stalling the car .
On the track the thing was a rocket, I woish I could have run a 1/4 mile in it. I didn't push the car too hard as the car really wasn't mine...and i could never afford it! The only thing I would change is I would add a larger wastegate so then you get more of that awsome turbo sound . Funny that you guys talk about the brakes because I kind of liked them. I don't know if its just me driving the car like a granny but I didn't notice a difference between the GT2s brakes and the new 997s
