It kinda depends. If you're already "old" (no offense to you old people ) and it would be harder for you to find another job, then I would say it would be better to be terminated with good severance pay, that way you would at least have something to live on. However, if you are still capable of working, then it would be better to resign and get nothing, because it is hard to get another job when a potential employer sees you have been fired.
