  • U.S. Grand Prix Anyone???

Just seeing if anyone went to the Formula One race this weekend in Indianapolis???

Having alot of fun so far, can't wait for the race tomorrow!!! Hopefully there will be more than six cars!

Also, it would be a great idea for Meguiars to have some representatives there, esp. at the car show on Sat. at the circle...

I used to go to the F1 races on the streets of Detroit back in the early '80s, but the brief period I lived in Indy was long before they brought the world's most exotic cars to the Brickyard. At least that was in the good old days of IndyCar racing, before it split into the IRL/Champ fiasco.

But I digress..............I love F1, and this was a pretty darn good race. That turn 1 incident was pretty scary, and it was impressive to see the Ferraris back on such dominant form. Should be an exciting run to the end of the season with Shu and Alonso fighting it out to the end.

    Cracking good stuff!!!

I used to be a big fan of F1, but lately (as in the past few years) I have found the racing to be nothing moe than a technological showcase of car technology - there's no real racing anymore IMO. Every so often, a car overtakes another... in the pit lane during pit stops, but that really is it... Too many races, the cars simply parade around, no overtaking, no racing - its just not like how it used to be... Bring back the old heroes of F1.

Nowadays I get my motorsport fix from short oval track racing - stock car racing. Yes, there's no glamour, no pizzaz, no big carnival - but there's brilliant close contact racing, the drivers not being worried about getting stuck in about a race and going for glory. There's not crazy sums of money involved, and there in lies the appeal - its a much rawer form of motorsport, and for me, much more entertaining and always has me on the edge of my seat - plus you cannot beat the smell of petrol and burning rubber!

Well, I'm back from Indianapolis now.

Very surprised to see this little amount of interest in the F1 event, I thought more people from here would have went.

I had a pretty good time, well except for the crash in turn one. Also, they changed the time for the big car show downtown this year, and we missed it. But, we got there with about 10 cars left-------------

3 of these cars were Baldwin Motion Corvettes. A red '73 (which I saw last year), a yellow '73, and then the best of all, a '69 Phase III GT. And it said goodbye with a big meltdown of it's large Bfg Radial TA's. That absolutely made the whole weekend for me, as that is probably my favorite Vette of all. This one was red with white striping. There is no better sound than that of a Big-Block Chevy with side-pipes. Then you add in the prestige and mystique of this ultra rare car (assuming it wasn't a clone, didn't get to ask the owner), then you talk about the event of a big car fan's life. I didn't have my mouth completely shut (probably drooling, lol!!!), and I know that my jar was absolutely trembling. It made me soooo proud to be an American amoungst all of these Awesome foreign cars. There had just been a sizeable gathering of the Ferrari club of America the night before, but that didn't mean squat to me when that 427 turned over.

You talk about Car Crazy, I was the most Car Crazy boy in Indianapolis for about 2 minutes when the three Baldwin Motions roared out of the circle in dowtown Indianapolis.

Happenings like this are why the F1 event is soooo cool. It's 3 days of so many awesome cars that you never have to opportunity to see elsewhere. I feel so blessed to have seen these cars, I just can't put it into words for you all.

Then you factor in the world's fastest cars roaring down one of the most famous American race tracks, I just don't see how it can be beat.

Thanks for taking the time to read this tiny bit of my second F1 experience.

I used to watch F1 events religiously. Even when it began to get dull (nothing really against ferrari, but domination is predictable) I still tuned in to see how it panned out.

Went to Melbourne in 2005, and now I only watch the races in my area of the world (due to their screening time) and Monaco. Going to an actual race spoilt it a bit for me in that the TV just doesn't do these screaming monsters justice.

Man, you got it so right about the whole sound experience. It is so great to hear and feel those F1 engines laying it all out, every gear, every turn.

How was Monaco????? If I ever get to go to one outside of the U.S., then I think that would be the one to go to.
