Automotive International is selling the ETG-1 for $379.50
    This tool retails for $500-$600.
Even on ebay it's in the $500s for a new one.

Hmm....think they are clearing them out to make way for a newer model? Perhaps one that is usable on both ferrous and non-ferrous substrates?

If you go for a Paint Thickness Gauge, then I would make sure you get one that works on both Ferrour and Non-Ferrous substrates... There's one on Ebay UK (CM8828), its direct from the manufacturer in Germany and is going for around £180 (think thats about $300-$350) and will do both Ferrous and Non-Ferrous paints... Its handy to have one capable of both.

        I think you're right, it's called the ETG-II to what I remember.
