Memorial Day National Moment of Remembrance at 3PM.

"On May 29th, 2006, pause at 3:00pm local time for a minute of
respectful silence for those who have died in the service of our
nation. During that minute, television and radio stations throughout America will air simultaneously a 60-second spot which includes "Taps". Turn on your radio or television to join your fellow Americans in putting Memorial back in Memorial Day."

I enjoy watching the Memorial Day Concert on PBS every year. They always have some courageous, amazing war stories to tell--Very moving indeed.

        It comes on tonight.

It is always a good time to remember what this holiday is all about. Sadly most of us get caught up with the fun events we have planned and forget that we only have these great times because of those who fought and died for our way of life.

I hope all that read this can honor these fallen heros with a moment of silence tomorrow at 3PM. Remember your fathers, grandfathers, brothers, and all who made the ultimate sacrifice.

            Beat me to it Joe!!
Lets all remember that freedom is not FREE!
In addition to what Joe said, from morning to noon, fly the flag on Memorial Day at half staff to honor our hero's!!

Having served for 6 yrs. I often think of those who did not come home to participate in Memorial Day services. Thank you Joe for bringing the moment of silence & respect to MOL's members attention.

Note: Meguiar's U.S. offices will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday May 29th, 2006. The forum will be open but as for myself I'll be taking most of this day off and spending time with family and friends.

I've read the below photo is one of the most, if not the most reproduced photograph in the history of photography.

You can read more about these photographs here,

I hope this post is not out of order here, but regarding famous photos of WWII-- My former co-worker's father was a Marine photographer stationed in the Pacific theater, and I had a chance to see some his father's work one time. Out of all that I saw, the pictures that stood out the most to me was several photo's of the official Japanese surrender on the Battleship Missouri.

I was awestruck just holding those historic, 8 x 10 black & white glossies in my hands. The detail was of the photos was extraordinary to say the least! Much greater than what you see in the history books.

It was hard to describe how I felt-- It made the war seem so much more personal to me than before.

It made you feel like that you were actually there at the time of the surrender. It's something that I will never forget.

                              R.B:

I'm a photographer and I would love to be able to hold those historic photos. Back then there wasn't the sophisticated cameras like we had today. I can't imagine the feeling of holding those photos, but I know it would give me goose bumps.

Sorry for the topic highjack guys.
