  • wwww.meguiarsonline.com ??? What the heck?

I accidently typed too many "w"s when I went to access this site... and the weirdest thing happened.

Anyone ever done that and then got this?

    (totally work safe, dont worry)

    That's funny.

Meguiars or whomever controls the domain for meguiars.com pointed wwww to the autopia forums.

I didn't know about this myself, but I'm not too surprised as currently MOL and Autopia are hosted with the same hosting company and on the same server.

We are finalizing the steps to migrate MOL over to Meguiar's servers in the next few weeks and this will include upgrading to the newest version of vBulletin plus a host of other cool new software features.

I'm going to guess this is a redirect of something of this nature as as far as I know there are no domains you can purchase and thus set the DNS for that include 4 w's

David Bynon, owner of Autopia helped to bring MOL up in January of 2004 and has been maintaining the database ever since then. David has done a great job over the years of keep the site up and running, but it has been decided to move complete ownership and all of the associated responsibilities for maintaining the forum and the gallery over to Meguiar's in-house control.

I'll still go ahead and notify David of this thread.

I think you've got something here, looks like a subdomain redirect to me...where "wwww" is a subdomain of "meguiars.com" and "wwww" is redirected to Autopia.

Taking advantage of what I would guess is a common mistake(adding the extra "w" ).

It has to do with both forums being hosted on the same server and one site has to be the default for something like this.

Just for chuckles try it with one W, or 10, you get the same result
