  • Replace Taurus Glass

    Hi all,

Does anyone know how to replace the small quarter glass in the rear of a Ford Taurus?

I'm talking about the little triangular side glass.

    Thanks,
    r. b.

I don't know how to, but I had a body shop replace mine (on a galant) for $50. Not sure how much the glass costs, but doesn't seem I was charged much for labor.

My cousin was quoted a price of $200.00

Sounded like rip off city to me, so I thought that I would do a Google search and see if I could find a repair diagram or something, since this car is so popular. So far, I haven't been able to find any info that would show me how to do it myself.

I'm thinking that this piece of glass has to be removed/ installed from the inside.

we had one replaced on our galant and they took off the interior door panel then pulled the large window out of the track then unscrewed the metal bar between the big and triangle window and it comes out easily
        just alot of steps
i think the screws for the bar between the windows is under the weather stripping in the channel pull out the strip and the screws are there, its been a couple years so my memory is foggy hope this helps some

Rusty, I remember there is a web site for taurus owners because one of our members was having a driveability issue & found help there. I don't remember has handle but the thread may be in the forums, I'll try to remember & if I do I'll post it. Good Luck.

Also, have you checked if your insurance covers it? I know that they cover windshields if they ever get a little crack in it from rock chips. Maybe they cover all glass.

If I remember correctly, the small glass in my cousin's Taurus is built into the rear pillar. Looks like it might be tough to get to.

              Thanks anyway.

                Excellent point.

I always carry comp insurance myself, but I don't think my cousin has it. I'll ask him to check his policy again.

                  Thanks stealth.

I searched a few forums today, but I found nothing about replacing a small side glass.

As big as the 'net is, you'd think you could find repair diagrams for free...But all the ones I found had a monthly fee for viewing them.
