  • Any HP Printer Experts on MOL?

I have two HP printers at work and one at home giving me the dreaded blinking lights(all the lights).... I have searched the internet looking for solutions to the problem but have had little success. Seems like a common problem with HP printers and there has to be someone out there who knows where to look in hopes of fixing at least one of the printers.

    try unpluginging everything
open it up to make sure its not a paper jam
    plug it back in
    test
if it doesn't work: re install the drivers restart computer and printer

i dono if this will work but i have an old Deskjet 820CXI and its still running great!

I'm willing to bet Sneek is right on with the unplug - plug back in and if that doesn't work uninstalling and re-installing the drivers has always worked for me.

I've had a couple of HP's give me problems as well, one bit the dust (like 4 yrs old) and the other has been going for a couple years.

Turn it off, unplug it from the wall outlet and also disconnect the cables. Wait a few mintues. Then redo the cables, plug it back into the wall outlet and turn it on.

Some printers have a memory like your VCR does. That's why you have to unplug them from the wall for a minute or two.

You might also want to check for updated drivers. I had one that wouldn't print PDF documents and I had to reinstall the drivers then update them.

Tried that... one printer this fix will work for a few prints then poof! its back to blinking lights, this one is a 900 series not sure the exact number.

The other at work is a Deskjet 5550 and the fix above won't work just the blinking lights all the time.

Now the one at home I located a post online a couple hours ago and did what the post suggested and that fixed the printer. This is a 2000C, the posted recommended cleaning the print head cleaning unit(not sure the real name but thats what I call it). It was a messy job, the ink was dried(tons of it!) and had everything seized up.... but the printer works now but its low on ink(ebay here I come!), I figured the ink was low but I wanted to get the printer working first.

                Hi Gb,

My HP 960C did that a few years ago. If I remember correctly, I did remove and then reloaded the drivers. It has worked great ever since.
