  • Oh how sad to see what humans do....

I just returned from a fabulous week in Arizona with my family touring the Grand Canyon and the desert...what a sight to see...if you've never seen it, words cannot begin to describe it...but I did want to share a couple of photos!...but before I share those, I wanted to vent just a little about what I saw there...we took a tour of the desert in a Hummer H1 which was amazing...even more amazing was the amount of destruction that is occuring in the desert by us humans...people shooting the saguaro cactus plants...garbage strewn around like it was a campground...empty propane tanks with bullet holes in them and the topper was a guy target practicing with an AK-47 on a tripod as we were leaving the tour...we've become a society of takers and it's so sad....

Ok, enough of that...now my real vent for the day....how ignorant some people are when it comes to other people and their property....I got a nice ding in the driver side door of my car yesterday from someone who obviously is a taker....what is wrong with people !?!?!.....no note, nothing....just "oh well, that's the way it goes"....

so here are some pictures to end this rant on a postive note !!

Isn't the Grand Canyon one of the most amazing things?

I agree about the trash and everything. I saw trash when I was hiking the trail too, although not as much because most of the people hiking the trail are hiking it because they enjoy nature and they don't want to mess it up. It irks me so much, though, to see people just throwing trash everywhere.

Wow two of my threads in a row are complaining. I'm really in a good mood tonight too believe it or not lol.

Beautiful pictures. Isn't it a great place?

Side rant. A lot of our California desert is being permanently wasted by wasteful off-roading. The dune buggys and whatnot ride all over the desert and in the process permanently destroy the flora. It won't grow back on the trails they've repeatedly driven. And when the flora goes, so goes the fauna.

Then there is the waste in gas and the pollution.

As for trash...since when has my front yard become the neighborhood landfill? Why should I pick up the cigarette butts...I don't smoke. I have chip bags and fast food wrappers and even the occasional beer can. I finally planted a row of Italian Cypress along my side yard because the people in the apartment building next door would stand on their porches and then chuck their trash over the fence into my yard for me to pick up. Really! The nerve. I don't understand the mentality. They can't walk inside their own door and throw it in their own trash can? These are probably the same people changing their oil parked on the street and then ditching the empty oil bottles in my bushes.

Yes. I don't think there are enough preservers to negate the takers. Especially when the takers call names and make it negative to be a preserver.

      BTW....I drive a Prius.

Amen....I think if we can educate the current generation to appreciate what we've been given in this country, then maybe we have a chance of making a difference...glad you liked the pictures...

Aaaah, the Takers! Got a new neighbor a couple years ago. Started finding "doggy doos doos" in my side yard. Really wasn't sure who it was as everyone in the neighborhood has a dog. Late one evening I was upstairs and happened to glance out the window and there she was with the dog in my yard. I went out and scooped it up and went and set it on her front porch after she had went in. Never found another one in the yard again!

Great pics by the way. I love that place!

It sounds like you toured one of the more popular areas for fun. Next time contact me and I will tell you where to go 4 wheeling out where no one has been before. You won't want to take the hummer, and not because it's a gas hog, it probably won't make it through the tuff areas...

If I visited your state, would I have to look very hard to see the same???

Those are really some cool pics. Yeah its sad that people cant take care of the world they live in. In our area people seem to think the dump is located a few miles down the road, the only thing is there is no dump. I go to work each day and see couches on the side of the road, clothes, lawn clippings, trash bags full of trash etc. I really think they should impose an enormous fee for those that are caught dumping or trashing mother earth. truth of the matter is that these folks dont care if they litter or destroy our planet. I do like the one commercial that shows a dump truck dumping a load of trash in someones house. It was making a statement that you wouldnt want someone dumpimg trash in your house so why would you dump trash out in the streets. April the Vettelady.

Absoutely not....you'd see it before you land at the airport....the point I was making was not about Arizona so I hope I didn't offend you....the point was how ignorant and uncaring some people are and that they can't appreciate or even see the natural beauty around them...that's all I was saying....

New York ? ...litter ?....please...if that was our only problem, we'd have no problems.....
