  • Visiting So. Cal.

I will be in La Jolla for the last week of April. My wife and I are planning to take our son to Disneyland for a couple of days, and I want to time it so that I can hit the open garage on the wednesday night. It's been 15 years since I've driven from La Jolla to L.A. , how long will this take me ? My other question is can I buy Meguiars products at the open garage ? There is lots of stuff we can't get here in Canada I'd like to try to pick up.

    Thanks

    Glenn

They don't sell product at HQ but there are lots of Meg's dealers between San Diego and Orange County.

La Jolla to Irvine is about an hour and a half in clear traffic. During rush hour, double that or more.

o i once asked if they sold products at HQ and someone told me they did sry for the misinformation
other than online? I've looked at all the autozones and pepboys in my area and none of them carry the nxt all metal polish. Is this an online only product?

EDIT: i deleted my last post

There is a place in Stanton called Super Autobacs that has a very large supply of Meguiars products. They carry a pretty good supply of the professional line, like products in the 32 oz size.

          Hi Glenn,

We don't inventory products for sale here at Meguiar's. At our classes we sell product at a class special price, but this product is shipped to your door, not given to anyone at the class itself.

We would love to have you here at our *Open Garage* on Wednesday nights, we'll even roll out the red carpet since you're coming from so far away.

What products are you interested in that you cannot get in Canada?

i dont want to hijack the thread but if i was to drive all the way down to Cal. do you think i could bring back 5 gallons of APC/super degreaser because its considered a controled substance and thats why we can't get it ???

In Canada you can't get anything from the new D-line, most of the GC assesories and any new products ( M21, smooth clay kit)

I would guess it depends on what’s controlled about it.

If the reason they don’t import it is because Canada doesn’t allow importation of some ingredient you’d think they’d want to confiscate it at the border. If it’s because they don’t allow commercial transport of an ingredient but do allow private possession you should be OK. If they would allow it but require mountains of paperwork, permits and fees it could be that Meg’s Canadian distribution doesn’t see it as cost-effective to bring it in.

              I don’t know, just guessing.

One of the things I'm having a hard time finding is a grit guard. The pbe I go to in washington state even had problems finding one. # 21 and some of the tools are other examples.
(And I figure that if my son gets to enjoy Disneyland, I should have some fun too, and coming home with a suitcase of Meguiars goodies sure would be fun )

I'll make sure I sign up as soon as the thread is launched for the APril 26 class.

I haven’t seen Grit Guards over the counter but that may just mean I wasn’t looking in the right places.

If you can’t find one on the shelf you can probably have one shipped to your hotel. (IIRC bettercarcare.com ships from a warehouse in San Diego.)
