  • My Finished Garage Pics

Hi everyone...kind of new here. I got some very nice comments from my pics in the Show Off section, so I thought I'd post the full set of pics here.

I was always crammed into a 2-car garage. When we moved into our new home, I was determined to make the garage something I'd enjoy working in. Everything you see in here I did myself. The floor was laid on a day when the temp reached 105 degrees and my 15-year-old daughter helped me with it. Hope you enjoy.

These are a few "before" pics. When we moved...EVERYTHING was tossed in the garage!

Here are the "after" shots...Nice and roomy!:

Including the radial saw, I have 16 feet of bench space with outlets every 18 inches.

Room for the radial saw, router, vacuum and compressor:

The fridge is filled with beer, soft drinks, water, Snapple tea, etc.

Yes, Virginia...that IS internet hookup on the bench along with a remote controlled stereo above!

That is a nice garage. I can't wait to get mine going. The owner still has to put the wall's up inside of it. This is the outside of it.

Nice job on the garage! I envy your three car space. I used to have one with a full workbench and all. But now I live in a townhouse with a one car garage, no window. Not much space. And yet I want to get a wall mount vac, compressor, pull down elec. cords, more lighting, a hose bib with hot and cold option and maybe some form of heat.
      Oh well.

You have a WINDOW in your garage?

                  Wow.

                  BTW I love the floor.

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments.

It wasn't really very expensive. I did the floor for less than $500, and that includes renting an industrial buffer to put on 5 coats of wax. Built the benches myself and got the cabinets from Home Depot (Mills Pride). I also coated the rise along the back and side with Rust-Oleum floor coating. I'd heard that it has lifting problems, but this area gets zero traffic, so I wasn't worried. It's just a lot of elbow grease.

Worth it in the long run because it's a pleasure to work in there.

Godiva - yes, it has a window. On hot Texas evenings I open the window and put a box fan in. Really helps with the cooling!

It's Armstrong Commercial Grade Linoleum (sometimes called VCT). You can get it at either Home Depot or Lowe's. I believe the tiles are $.69 each.
