68 Stang, what do you think?

I'm thinking about buying this and selling my 91. 68 Fastback, 302/auto , perfect body, needs a full resto front to back. $9k. I've always wanted an older Mustang but the prices are just outragious now. This might be the last chance at buying one while I can still afford it. I like my 91, but I don't drive it and there are still reasonably priced low mileage Fox bodies still out there. I'm just worried I'd overrestore it, putting more in than it's worth. (I'd like to do an Eleanor) So, push me over the top, should I go for it?

I love these fastback body styles even though I'm a Chevy guy...

(Put a big block Chevy engine in it and have the best of both worlds)

I'd say buy it! And I'm into late model cars! I'm with Shine on making it baaaad (supercharger out the top and hydros anyone?).

Seriously though, if the motor isn't too bad and the chassis hasn't corroded away it'd be a good investment. Too many classics are being moved to the trash heap these days.

So with a restore, it would be quite a while before you put more money in it than it is worth (unless doing a frame off resto). Mustang parts are fairly inexpensive. You can put a whole new interior in it for ~$700.

Looks like it is worth the money and as has been mentioned already; the classics are harded to find these days.

Well this doesn't look good. I was given an absolutly not from my parents. Unfortunatly I still live at home because I'm saving up for a house. I was restoring a 240Z a few year ago and all they remember is parts all over. It turned out to be a rot box so it's in the junk yard. They could care less about cars so it means nothing to them. I'm still not going to give up on it.....got some phone calls to make to people with garage space.

I still would like a classic Mustang regardless if it's this one or not. My business is growing pretty fast so in 6 months I'd be in a position to buy another Mustang as well as keep my 91.

BTW, after pricing out a "true" Eleanore I don't think I'd be doing that. It's up around $15k just for parts!

Well I buffed the paint out today for it to go on ebay. This thing was HAMMERED. #84/#80 x2 did wonders for it. It's hard to see it go, but I think I'm better off buying a restored one than doing it myself. Hopefully someone doesn't ruin it by turning it into a drag car.
