Holy Shmoly - do you know the story with that one? The branch doesn't look that big to do that much damage - unless it was dropped from a plane!

        This is what it says:

        Car: Volkswagon Beetle
Description: It's amazing how much damage a tree banch can do. This was caused by Hurrican Katrina
        Location: New Orleans

Yea, I guess a tree branch hitting your car at 100 mph IS like having it drop from a plane! Yikes!

I think that it is a great challenge to see how far (years) you can go without getting a ding. The website is great because I could easily relate to the suggestions as I already practice most of them.

What's really funny is that sometimes I have gone through all the trouble to find that ideal spot several miles from the main entrance of the store I am going to way out in the boonies and someone will park right be me even though there are 20 other open spots they could choose from. What's up with that? I would not even be upset if they left at least one space between my car and theirs.

People are wierd. But look who's talking.

You know, I generally don't sweat the small stuff, but this has got to be one of the most annoying things that a stranger can do to me. GET AWAY FROM MY CAR!

Was at a hotel last night where I left my car to go to dinner with another group....got back about 11:30 and had to go move my car to a spot outside my room (1st floor) so I could get up and quick detail it (at 6:00 am) before coming home today....couldn't sleep knowing that it was parked in the front of the building in a general parking spot....

I think that's something genetic, like feeling more safe closer to others. Also many look to others to approve of something, so just by parking in that spot, you have then verified that it is a good space to park in

Guess theres a lot of psychology in parking Don't know the psychology behind slamming you door into someone elses car though

Sometimes I like owning a 12 year old car, as I don't notice another ding too much... Except when it gets slammed so hard, that there is paint transfered from the other car

I'm very careful about where I park as well. It irks me to no end when I see something like this. I park way out of the way--there are tons of empty spaces around me--I was the only car in the lot when I arrived, and this guy parks over the line right next to me.

I parked next to the curb and left a gap for a reason.

In 63,000 miles I've had two small dings removed from my drivers side. I have another one on the passenger side but really too small to notice.

Sometimes all the good end spots are taken ... by other people with nice cars that don't want door dings. So if possible, I park by them. Hopefully they notice my new clean car and realize I am not parking next to them to be a jerk, but by being between them and a possible person that opens their doors with reckless abandon, I am actually doing them a favor. Then I just hope someone comes along and does the same for me. Sometimes I see a bunch of nice cars at the end of a parking lot and I just feel a lot better about parking among them .

Now I know I am not the only one that picky about where I park.

                            Yep, me too.

My wife is getting used to the long walk. She used to complain, but now after 33 years of marriage she just knows we're going to be walking.

so this is the only reason I park so far....
