All the team's I've wanted to win are out. I'm a Cowboys fan, but we didn't make the playoffs this year, so I went for New England, then they lost, so I went for the Colts, now they are out. I would say Seattle will win, but I seem to be picking all the losing teams!
While my team is no longer in the hunt because they gave the game away, I would like to say that overall the officiating in the playoffs has been pretty bad. I've seen more awful calls this year than in any other. I'd say three out of four of the games this past weekend were poorly officiated.
One bad call almost cost the Steelers the game. The Patriots were fighting against two teams the whole game . . . the Broncos & the referees. I also saw a few pretty questionable calls in the Bears/Panthers game.
LOL, cut me and I bleed black & gold. I had to keep looking away from the TV and reminding myself that it was only a football game and really didn't matter, my heart was pounding so hard.
I've said all along that if the Steelers get past Indy they're going all the way. Denver, Carolina, and Seattle are all good teams, but the Steelers are overcoming bad luck, and you can't ignore an intangible that big.

As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.
The Colts did their usual fold in the playoffs, not really a surprise. I hate to be a pessimist, but I think Manning is going to be a very good quarterback during the regular season and put up big numbers, but only mediocre in the playoffs.
I started to worry when we lost to San Diego. They showed everyone else how to beat the Colts. Just put pressure on Manning, sack him a few times, get him rattled, game over! "Smash mouth football" as the Steelers put it. And the Colts cannot handle that.
The Steelers talked trash before the game. They said the Colts were soft, that they were a finesse team. But I have to give 'em credit. They backed it up in a big way!
What I can't figure out is why the Colts offensive line basically folded starting with the San Diego game. Up until then they were best in the league in fewest sacks allowed. The Colts better figure it out in a hurry before next season.
Word is that James and Vanderjagt will not be back. So the team will have a different look, and our running game, along with the kicking game, will likely suffer a lot. Lots of fans say that "we'll be back next year." I'm not so sure about that.
I was really hoping that Dungy and the Colts would make it to the Super Bowl. Dungy is first class as a person and as a coach. He brought the defense around. Even Edgerrin deciced to keep his mouth shut and just play football, which he did very well. I was especially impressed with his change in attitude. But I think the window of opportunity is closing............
Can the Steelers go all the way? You bet! I don't see anyone stopping them now.
I thought the Panthers would be much more competitive than they were today......And I've never seen Jake D. have a bad playoff game till today either.
I guess the Panthers were just a little too beat up to win this game. Counting the Atlanta game, this was Carolina's 4th road trip in 4 weeks, if I remember correctly.
It was a valiant team effort in the post season, but the Seahawks were just too much for the Panthers in the end. I don't watch Pittsburgh games much, so I don't really know how good they are, but if Seattle plays like they did today then the Steelers will have their hands full in the Super Bowl.
As for Carolina, they are going to have to address their tight end and wide receiver situation if they are to make it back to the Super Bowl (Steve Smith can't do it all himself!). And maybe at the running back position too.
I'm pulling for the NFC to win it all this year, as always. Especially since with what the steel curtain did to my Cowboys back in the 1970's. I taped the 1996 Super Bowl game where the Cowboys beat the Steelers.
I pull it out and play it every now and then for a good pick me up.

I'm from Philadelphia but go to school at Pitt, and let me just say it was crazy here after the game last night. I'm just glad that they won because I think a loss could have been even worse. It's already started to boost the morale around here and I think it's great the steelers are going to the big game.
I missed the 75 yard TD run by Willie Parker. I didn't know that he played college ball at UNC!? The local paper said that he didn't play very much at Carolina at all.
What was coach Bunting thinking?! How could he not realize the talent that Wille possessed before he left school. W. P. did not even get to play in his last home game before graduation!
Oh well, enjoy Pittsburgh!
