MOL to be update soon...

We are going to update Meguiar's Online to the newest vBulletin 3.5.1 version and because this skin is not compatible with vB 3.5.x versions we will have to choose a new skin.

We have a graphics team that can modify any existing skin to match the Meguiars.com colors, so all we really need is to choose a style.

I thought start a thread for skin suggestions if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to post a link here...

Also, if anyone has within their skill sets the ability to modify the templates of the vBulletin 3.5.x templates to use our current skin the please email me and let me know.

This one is called Cyborb and because it ceners the logo in the center it could easily be modified to have the look and feel of www.meguiars.com

Most of them have a small font, and really need to Meguiar's colors. But they don't seem as cluttered...

BTW I think sticking with vBulletin is a smart idea, the Corvette Forum switched to another brand and they are still fighting archives and search functions problems a couple of years later. Granted there's 100,000 members there, it's just not as nice as vBulletin...

Make something with Meguiar's colors in mind. Like since I suppose this style is featuring NXT, maybe make the forums the same color as a bottle of NXT Car Wash, or if you switch to Gold Class, Make a black background with yellow and orange text.

i am a big fan of this forum here

the feature i like most is when you are browsing through the lists of posts a box appears with the first few lines of text. Sort of like a cue in to what you are about to read.

I like that the "Veiw New Posts" link, it is easy to get to on the current MOL site, seems when others upgraded its now in a menu system, IMO its kind of a pain and if you click it fast you may accidently click the link below the "Veiw New Posts" and that link is "Mark Forums Read". Poof there goes the unread posts!

What does everyone think about the contrast options of

Dark Message Background with Light/White Colored Text

vs

Light Message Background with Dark/Black Colored Text


Example: Currently MOL uses a light message background with black text. The Cyborg-Dark skin uses a dark background with light colored text.

Generally speaking, it's easier on your eyes to use dark text against a light background, for example when you read a book or newspaper you have black text against white paper.

Think about reading an entire book or newspaper each day with black paper and white text. After a while, you're eyes and head might begin to hurt.

Just something to consider. I read and work on this forum everyday so I lean strongly towards a light message background with dark or black text.

I would agree with you on the light background w/dark text, kind of the way I prefer. I do like the cyborg design.

If that is the case, and want to stick with the Cyborg design. Would this one work? I don't know much about these templates. or can the background color be changed of the "dark" version?

Hi:

I vote for the --- Light Message Background with Dark/Black Colored Text.

Dark looks good but it limits the colors you can use and I find it hard to look at for any length of time.
