  • My first scratch

Don't know how I got it. Was not there a week ago. I noticed it yesterday. it's down to the primer and about 1/16" wide by about 2" long.

I am waiting for my wax to dry. You can see it is still on from the pics. I'll try to get a couple of cleaner pics after the Wax has been removed.

That doesn't look so bad. Did you already hit the area with Scratch-X?? If so, fill up the rest of the scratch with touch-up paint, and let it cure for a week or so. (Just to be safe with the cold temps)

After it has cured, hit it with some 1500 and then 2000 grit wetsanding paper, and follow with #83 and a W-8006 (or 9006 if the tracers are being stubborn).

I'll try to go into more detail later, as I'm putting together a "tutorial" on touch-ups as we speak.

No I have not hit it with Scratch-X yet. I have not done anything to it other then put a couple of coats of DC #3 on it over the past three days.

I meant to get some better pics of it after waxing today but got tied up detailing out the trim and such. Figured I was on a roll and wanted to get my entire exterior done up. I'll try to get better pics tomorrow.

After I get the pics up I'll start puttting serious though into correcting this. Right now it's under wax so it should not get any worse.

        That's a darn shame, Jeff

Since it's white, though, that lends itself to touchup better than a lot of colors. Now you get to practice something else new!
See the big picture, enjoy the details

Actually white can be one of the hardest to get a 100% match on; it's doable, but there are more forgiving colors out there.
