  • cold weather and shipping products

    Okay, winter is almost here.

Everybody is supposed to move their chemicals out of the garage if it is unheated.

Would products such as 80, 81, 82, 83 be negatively affected by ordering when the weather is cold. For example, would a shipment of chemicals by UPS be slightly damaged and make my life aggravating down the road.

I live in the Northeast, and I am trying to figure out whether to put an order in or wait until May of 2006. Thanks.

Hmm Good Question. As long as it does not freeze you should be fine. I have never had that issue here in Southern MD. Have you ever ordered any liquid product and have it delivered frozen??

I guess there is always the possibility that they will deliver in the morning and it takes you 8 hours to get to it. It might be more of a polish "brick" by that time.

How cold does it have be before you need to move products inside- only if freezing??? I didn't think it would be much of a problem in Texas but it does freeze occasionally...

^^ I myself would say any temperature below 50 degrees would be the time to move your product. But like you said, down in Texas that won't be all that many days from what I can remember from living there.

I have had that happen in the past... but I've never seen any problems resulting from it. The most critical thing to remember is to not open the products until they've thawed back out. I just let them sit indoors right by one of my furnace air vents for a day or two (to be safe) and then shake them up REALLY well before opening. This way you won't lose any of the oils or separated liquids from the frozen solid... which could spell disaster.

I try not to order products during the winter. Who knows if your box will sit on a truck overnight or something. Better safe than sorry is my feeling.
