I always hold it, I never put my hand inside the mitt.

When I use a sheepskin mitt (though I use a GS more often), I also don't put my hand inside the mitt, but do cut off the cuff.

Just grab it. Never put my hand in it.

You have more control when you put your hand in but usually just grab it.

            God Bless YOU.

I voted both as that is what I do. I am always concerned about the collar of the mitt infusing scratches and or swirls though.

Re: How do YOU use your wash mitt?

I usually try to trick someone else into using it after making a big show of how much fun it is to wash my car. Then I sit back on the porch with a cold drink and point out missed spots or incorrect technique while hinting that I may or may not be able to trust them with the next step, quick waxing...

i find it a big pain in the butt to put my hand inside it..because sometimes you have to turn your body and use your other arm to reach a certain panel and i hate taking it off to put it on the other hand or try to megaiver myself to reach with my one arm..i always hold my mitt..plus im more gental when i hold my mitt because it makes it really easy to glide the mitt across the paint smoothly

                        I always wear it.

It wouldn't be called wash mitt if it wasn't meant to put one's hand inside it.

this is very true..however sometimes a different method than implied can give better results

but the truth is...whatever works for a certain person and they dont see new swirls showing up, then it can not be a wrong way of using the mitt

I don't put my hand in it because it feels heavy and water always runs down my arm Admit it...that is NOT the best part of washing a car!

Use a GS only for the most part on all surfaces although I do carry a mitt.

Hand on top method is used when I do use a mitt, but that would only be for lowers/rockers and edges of wheel wells when vehicles are really extremely fithly from the rains. At times I may also use a mitt on the front leading edges, front windshield and mirrors when a vehicle is bugged out(full of bug guts).
