Rare Griot's Garage edition of Porter-Cable's Random Orbit Sander Kit. The PC 7336SP is the same machine as the PC 7424, and the old Meguiars G100.
The dust collection hood, mounted to the head of the polisher and attached by included hose to a shop vac, greatly reduces or eliminates sanding dust. This feature is particularly useful for surfboard shapers, carpenters, fiberglass workers, dry wall hangers, or any occupation exposed to particulate dust inhalation. The hoses would probably not be practical for car detailing, although I haven't tried it.
Technical Details
* Variable-speed random-orbit sander includes dust collection system
* Powerful (120 VAC, 50-60 HZ/120 VDC) 4-amp motor runs at speeds of 2,500- to 6,000-opm (orbits per minute)
* Spiral/bevel gearing and 100-percent ball bearing design ensures durability
* Spindle Thread: Accepts 5/16 - 24
* Includes 6-inch sander, 5-hole hook and loop backing plate, backing plate wrench, dust collection hood, dust collection hose, hose adapter (1-1/2- to 2-1/2-inch), side handle, operating manual, and hard plastic Griot's-Garage badged carrying case
* Measures 11-by-10-1/2-by-6-inches and weighs 5-3/4-pounds
I used this Porter Cable as my secondary high speed polisher. It has very low mileage on the motor and brushes, making it close to new in terms of wear. All told, the polisher has only seen about 20 hours of use. The dust collection hood, hose, and connectors have never been used.
