I was lucky enough to be part of the team and represent Meguiars this past weekend at the Russo & Steele automobile auction in Newport Beach, Ca.. I'm going to share a few thoughts, along with a few pix. I hope y'all enjoy.
-1st of all, I'd like to give a huge bigups to Danielle for working non stop throughout the 3 day event. Thx to her we stayed ahead of the game. Whether it was helping us with the wipedowns, answering any questions, or just being part of the fun, she proved to excel in all phases and really knows her stuff. She's awesome!-
Friday night: 4 of us as a team with Danielle & Christofer Brown being the experienced ones at these events, while me & CypressWill were 1st timers at an auction.. As an endless stream of immaculate showcars slowly made their way across the black carpet in 4 lanes [with each lane almost 1/4 mile long] and as the sun faded into the night, everyone in attendance seemed to slip into the proper groove.. I've been to many carshows in the past, but there's something about the cars idling with their own distinctive sound while slowly crawling towards the stage that really brought out the emotions from a crowd that was without a doubt 100% Car Crazy! Whether it was a potential high roller looking to obtain his next toy/dreamcar, or a seller potentially parting ways with his longtime baby, or a car he/she restored from the ground up.. There was a huge level of pride and respect everywhere you looked.
The pride I take in knowing about and applying proper technique + representing Meguiars on this great stage, along with every car being a respectable classic in there own way kept us super busy and I personaly was in full on detail mode the 1st night.. I bearly took the time to stand back and enjoy the cars like I normaly would. But there were 2 exceptions. The 1st car that made my night was a white 1960 Cadillac Series 62 Convertable. It was funny because as it pulled up towards the front of the carpet and I stood back to enjoy the sight, I found myself standing next to several other people who had made their way to get a close look at the car and just enjoy the view. I took 1 look at the smiles of the people next to me and simply said to them, "y'all are Cadillac people huh"? They turned their heads and we all nodded our heads and laughed
That was 1 of the highlights of my night. Where I find a nice looking Cadillac, I find good friendly people nearby
...Then I quikly returned to my duties as all 4 of us were plenty busy all night Meguiarizing the cars...
I only took 1 pic on Friday.. It was next to the 1988 Ferrari Testarossa. I was about 10yrs. old back in 88' And my childhood memories always had me dreaming of this car being the absolute coolest automobile on earth. I had been anticipating seeing this car up close, and here it was
I still love this car. I think I felt an increase in swagger just standing next to it! Lol :P
I can almost hear Bob aka imz4in yellin "hey Hollywood! Quit posing next to that Ferrari and get to work"! Lol.
