  • Saturday Class in Johannesburg, South Africa

So after making the trip to Irvine to attend a Saturday Class and a TNOG at the Meguiars H/O, I went back home with increased enthusiasm to help get a local class up and running.

Having a good relationship with the local Meguiars distributor, I arranged a meeting with the Regional Operation Manager and set out my vision for the local detailing classes. He was happy to support me in my efforts and working closely with the rest of the local Meguiars team we confirmed the details and schedule for the rest of this year.

On Saturday, 9th October, the first class was held and was a great success. Due the venue constraints, our classes are a lot smaller that those in the USA, but we had a great response and turnout and we look forward to our next class in November.

    Some photos from the day:

      12 person maximum sign up!
Do you think you will raise the limit to a higher number to account for the inevitable no-shows?
I saw that you have the separate sign up and Photo threads, just like Meguiar's USA =P

Looks great Sean! I noticed you said you had a hard time convincing the owner to use the G220. What were his reservations about it?

Any interesting feedback from the attendees that you want to share?

We've already pushed the limit up to 14 for this reason. We are being cautious however as we don't want to run in to trouble should everyone show up. During the course of next year we'll bump the numbers up as there is some work being done on the venue to improve the facilities.

No need to reinvent the wheel

I think it was just natural apprehension at trying something for the first time and being afraid to screw up in front of an audience.

Very positive feedback in general. Even some of the regular, accomplished detailers that attended said it was a worthwhile and fun day.

Some of the other regions in our country are keen (and envious) of the classes and I will be flying off the the east coast of SA (Durban) in the new year to launch the classes there as well.
