  • Tire Dressing Question

I have used Meguiar's Endurance High Gloss for some time now and it's wonderful. No complaints!

I am currently at school in Connecticut and, as such, only get to take my car through a (well-known and reputable) car wash every now and then. I like to see the tires dressed, as well, and bought a bottle of Hot Shine Tire Spray (with the adjustable trigger.)

Am I somehow using it wrong or are all dressing in a bottle (or can) this troublesome when using? Nothing against Meguiar's, but when you apply it, it goes everywhere! The wind blew up and took the spray onto my windows and it also dripped down my wheels. Even without the wind, it seemed like the product traveled everywhere!

The Hot Shine will work for times when I am not home to do a full detail, but I feel the hand application of the Endurance is 400 times better than this. Still, once it's on the tires, the Hot Shine works nearly as well. Can't go wrong with that Meguiar's quality!

So, my question is, for you people that use dressings in cans and bottles, how do you deal with this (besides applying the spray to a rag and then applying it, since that's what I'm trying to avoid during quick details.) However, I find myself spending more time trying to correct the overspray problems than I would have using the Endurance anyway!

    Thanks!

I use both hotshine and NXT insane shine but don't spray either directly at the tires for the reasons you describe. Rather, I spray a sponge applicator designed just for dressing application, saturating the sponge and then apply to the tires by hand. Takes a few more seconds, but saves time in the long run and sling is less of or not an issue at all.

Well, I see a couple possible thoughts.

One, you may need to wipe off excess after applying.

Two, someone else mentioned trouble applying one dressing over another, that it all shot off. You may need to clean the tire well.

Three, I spray a little on the tire, a little on an Eagle1 Swipe, and spread it all around.

      Hope that helps a little..

        Thanks for the reply.

As for reason 1, I assume you are referring to splatter after driving. The traces of product on the car I speak of is before the car is driven and originates from the initial spraying of fthe product.

Number 2, it definitely isn't that since the dressing is 100% gone. I don't have time to do a detail very often while away from home. Regardless, the problem doesn't happen after driving as mentioned above

Number 3 is an option I mentioned as well, but if I did that, I might as well just use the endurance. I just don't get the purpose of using the trigger spray if you use an applicator anyway, like I do with the Endurance. I was wondering if I was somehow missing something.

        Thanks for the reply, however!
