what polish to use with nxt

Been a lurker for a while, trying to learn. I bought and used the nxt wash and wax 2 weeks ago on a Aegean blue metallic sl500 that is about 8 months old. The car had never been detailed and had a major amount of bonded contaminates. I spent 2 hours claying it and used a whole bottle og QD. I selected nxt due to its supposed durability. The car is in NYC and parked outside in the elements. The car came out looking great, but i want to make it look as good as possible. What polish would be good to use with the nxt line? I also bought a PC yesterday, and am wondering what is the best way to apply and remove polish and the wax, which pads to use. Thanks for any advice.

I like #80 speed glaze on a polishing pad with the pc set at 5, or #83 dacp with a polishing pad on pc set at 5. With the dacp you need to buff untill its just about gone and with the speed glaze you dont need to buff as long. Both will give you excellent results on a dark color, but I think for your benz I would go with speed glaze. Then follow up with a clean polishing pad with the pc set at 4 and nxt....the results will be well worth it.

If you are not looking for something in the Pro line the Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish has worked well for me under my NXT but I am now going to be using #81 for my BC/CC truck as suggested by many on this board.

Hi joebabyny...Welcome to MOL!

So far, my favorite polish to use with NXT has been #82 Swirl Free Polish ...This product will help remove fine swirls and add tremendous gloss to your paint when used with the W-8006 pad on the 5 setting of your PC.

Just work the product in until somewhat dry, or tacky...Remove with a clean terry or microfiber towel.

As for the wax, use Meguiar's W-9006 pad on a lower setting...Be sure to put a big "X" of product on both of your pads to start with....Do this every time when using a polish on a section, but maybe just 2 or 3 times when waxing the whole car.

I use #7 show car glaze, I've tried step 2. Both good results. I think it kind of depends with what you top it with.

I use #7 polish, comes out great.

By hand try #81 Hand Polish, this works really well on clear coats. However, some prefer #7 particularly on non-clear coat finishes.

However, join the wait for the DA Polisher package deal. I would certainly recommend using the PC/DA buffer, it makes it much easier to achieve excellent results and appears pretty fool proof. Using the PC I agree with Rusty Bumper:

Guys, thanks for all the great advice. So If I applied a coat of NXT a week or two ago, should I use something to remove that coat before I polish??

First of all,

Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Second of all, because car wax is a sacrificial barrier, intended to wear away by sacrificing itself so your paint doesn't have to, [sacrifice itself], it should be perfectly fine to first wash the car and then apply a pure polish followed by another coat of wax.
