  • ColorX vs. Tech Wax

Just to be curious, I just placed a $100 order by phone. The guy taking the order told me that I would not need ColorX if I ordered the NXT tech wax because the Tech Wax was also a cleaner. Did I do wrong in not ordering it?
    Thanks.

Welcome to Meguiar’s On-line! We are glad to have you as member and it’s nice to see you joining in the discussions.

    As far as the Color-X…

The surface you start with determines whether you would want to use Color-X or not. If your surface is in pretty good shape you won’t need it. If it has some oxidation or it looks like the paint needs to be cleaned then you might want to use it prior to NXT Tech Wax.

Take a look at the Bronco in the Extreme Makeover tread. This rig is parked outside every day and the owner lives on the Mohave Desert. The Bronco defiantly needed more cleaning than NXT could take care of as the cleaning ability in NXT is there but no extremely aggressive. 1986 Ford Bronco II - Extreme Makeover Link

If you feel like you should have ordered the Color-X, give customer care a call and let them know what happened and see if they can add it to your previous order.

    Hope this helps,

I recently used the tech wax on a customers black bmw x5.I applied two coats using the pc and was happy with the results.I feel the tech wax does'nt really do a great job filling in fine swirls or stratches .But it does leave a wonderful deep gloss and shine. After two weeks i washed the vehicle with tech wash and deceided to try color x on the truck to see how it would come out.I applied one coat of the wax with a cotton applicator and rubbed it with a little more pressure, let it set up for 20 mins and removed it with a micro towel. The results were just the same as the tech wax, but this time most of the swirls and scratches were filled in.Also i noticed the paint was slicker to the touch than it was when i applied the tech wax. I am curious if the durability is better than the tech wax, cause after two weeks the tech waxed seemed almost gone when washing the vehicle . I do think they are two great products.I like the color x on darker vehicles
