  • NXT and #26

I recently purchased some NXT and intend to do a full detail once I get the time and a break in our weather. In the past I have done a 3 step process of #9, # 7 and #26, and liked the results, which were more impressive once I purchased a PC7424. Does NXT replace #26 or do I top of NXT with #26? I know both are waxes, but I think I read that some folks are doing this. Thanks.

#26 is a pure wax, but NXT is a blended synthetic polymer.

As far as topping one over the other, it's just a matter of your own personal preference...I haven't topped NXT with anything yet.

Try it both ways on opposite sides of your hood for a comparison test, and see what you think, but I think NXT has some cleaning abilities to it, and it may remove #26...Just my 2 cents worth.

I definetly wouldn't top #26 with NXT as Rusty Bumber suggested. However I have topped NXT with both #16 and #26 (#26 was really just an experiment on my tractor).

Like Rusty said the #26 or #16 topper look is just personal preference but I believe you'll benefit in reduced dust attraction for the first few days and also long term durability of the NXT layer(s), if that's important to you. Dust attraction was very high for me after the first few days NXT was applied (without any toppers). The look is super but my vehicles turned into a dust magnet until they got a wash with NXT car wash (which just so happens to have anti-static ingredients, part of the overall system I'm guessing). As a side note the NXT wash is really good IMO and the two products go together very nicely.

My personal preference after seeing both looks is NXT by itself and just reapply every 3-6 weeks to maintain optimum shine and protection, it's very quick, easy and economical. And if you like to keep busy, just apply the NXT Booster wax once a week after a wash.

doubleL and Rusty Bumper - Thanks for your feedback. I'll start with the #26 over NXT and see how it looks. I'll also buy some NXT wash also. It really helps to get feedback from the guys that have "been there, done that."

I haven't tried it, but I've heard of some that were talking about it.

To each his own I guess.
