Help w/NXT Protectant

I just picked up a bottle of protectant and spray wax booster. I didn't get a chance to use the booster, but I did my interior with the protectant.

I started with a cotton diaper (spray on diaper, wipe on interior), but had to stop because I was getting so much static electricity. I thought I was in the middle of a miniature thunder storm. There was so much static in the panel that my arm hairs were standing on end.

Next I tried a MF towel, but it absorbed the protectant, and didn't apply it to the surface very well. Finally I used a small sponge. That seemed to work.

Are you supposed to buff off the protectant after application, or are you supposed to apply and let it remain??

I did both...the first pass through the car, I applied the NXT protectant, then buffed it with a mf. The interior didn't look any different than before I started. Then I reapplied the protectant, and let it remain.

Is the NXT supposed to be high gloss & how long does it take for it to lose the greasy feeling??

my guess about the greasy feeling is that you appleid it to thick.what i do i i use a bathroom towel cut into smaller pieces and spray on the towel and then wipe.that way i dont get it on the windows or anywhere esle i dont want it .after i have applied it i let it sit for about 10 mins and then buff with a lint free mf towel and i have always had great results.

Don, I have not tried it on the interior because of my initial thoughts on the consistency of the protectant. I felt like it was IMO a tire dressing only. I will try it on an interior soon, but this may help you out.

NXT Tech Protectant

Is unique in that it contains both Antiozonants and UVA and UVB sun blockers. That enables it to work well on both rubber and vinyl trim and components.

I like to apply it with a foam applicator pad and what I notice about it is that after applying it, 20-30 seconds later, the surface is completely non-greasy, or non-oily. (wipe your hand across it to test).

I just use a cotton towel and it works well... spreads evenly and not greasy.

To me it felt/looked like Black Magic...thicker than a liquid, not as thick as a gel. It even sprayed out of the bottle 'funny' like Black Magic does.

HI Don,

I apply any protectant with a foam applicator. I leave the product sit for a minute or so and then wipe off any excess with a MF towel. I do not use a cotton towel as it tends to leave lint behind. The MF removes enough to bring a natural look back to the interior.

I gave the dash a quick wipe down before work this morning (kind of hard to see at 6:00 AM though). After work, I came out to the car and it looked a whole lot better (a more even, less 'candy-coated' gloss) and didn't seem to be greasy anymore.

Perhaps it should be the first thing I apply and the last to wipe off during an interior detail.

Black Magic Protection is the WORST! I just thought I should say that to anyone thinking of getting it. Gooey nasty gel that gets everywhere. I wiped the bottle clean and returned it to Wal-Mart in favor for some ArmorAll Cleaning/Protectant Wipes. That I love!

Tim's method is precisely the method that I utilize as well. To date, this application method seems to work best for me and I do like to go back over everything with a MF towel just to restore that 'new' look.

Hey,

The static may be caused by the material in your particular model of car. I know that with my truck, I do not have problems with static. But my wife's car is another matter! If I touch the metal on the door, I can actually see the arc as hits my fingers!! OUCH!!!

However, I have not had problems with static when applying a protectant to the dash or door panels. Perhaps, you are rubbing off the excess protectant way too hard with your cloth? Perhaps, try a different MF towel and see if that helps!

I used NXT Tech Protectant for the interior of this Corvette from the Extreme Makeover thread. It was a little shiny at first but by the time I finished the rest of the interior it lost most of its shine. I did go over it lightly with a microfiber to get any residue where I had applied it a little too thick. I used a foam applicator to apply the protectant.

the static occured while I touch to see if it was greasy, not while using a towel. I wouldn't even need to touch it and you could feel the hairs on your arm rise. couldn't get it to do that in my wifes car...thank goodness. I'm just curious if this goes away when you encounter it or if certin vehicles area jinxed for life.
