  • NXT wash vs. Gold Class Wash

    Good evening folks,

I've done some searching and maybe just didn't find the thread I'm looking for. I've had an 02, 05, and 05SER Altima and have always used the Gold class products. On the 05 I changed to NXT and love all the products, but continued to use up the rest of my Gold Class carwash, and have loved it.

I'm wanting to know the difference between the Gold Class carwash and the NXT carwash? I have hard water and a car that gets washed by hand about once ever 7 - 10 days.

I now have a black Altima SER which gets parked 5 days a week where some not really nice mist lands from power plants and such. So the surface contaminants would best benefit from something PH balancing, I think... And by the way, the NXT was by FAR outpaces the gold class for being in a fallout/acidic environment. I can go weeks on this where the gold class would get eaten through in a couple days.

Personal experiences between the two welcome as well as a Meguairs answer.

I convert everyone I know to meguars. from the Cleaner Wax up through the NXT line....

    Thanks all,

    Scott

if you have hard water, then the nxt wash will be better for you. i personally like the gold class better (i don't have hard water issues), it leaves a slicker finish and has more conditioning agents in it. it's a preference sort of thing.... can't go wrong with either!

NXT is better if you have hard water, but GC is tough to beat......The 1st time I used GC, I noticed that it had penatrated some dried on wax that had stained some window trim and had made it much less noticeable.

That's a testimony to the rich lubricating properties of GC, because I've never seen a car wash soap do that before.

I bought another Gold Class last night. Maybe I will just by the NXT also and do an exhaustive comparison of my experiences. I tend to do this with cars also on altimas.net so why not with carcare products.....

Both are great products, I have both and use both but I also prefer GC Shampoo for the same reason Rusty Bumper does.

I have heard NXt is better with hard water although mine water is not all that bad so I can not comment on that.

I did mix 1oz NXT Wash + 2oz Gold Class Shampoo + 3 gallons of water. Thought I would get the best of both worlds but I really didn't see a difference and still liked GC alone.

That's a tough one; both are great. NXT wash holds an edge for me because of the "type of dirty" my car gets. Mike wrote that NXT "encapsules" particles, and I get a lot of dust and pollen and some tree sap. In my mind, the NXT is helping prevent swirling by encapsulating the partices. I don't know that it's true, but it's why I choose NXT over GC.

How does deep crystal wash compare with these two?

Here's something I posted in another thread...

Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner is still Meguiar's premium car wash. It contains the most conditioning agents and gloss enhancing ingredients.

NXT Generation Car Wash offers excellent cleaning with long lasting suds. It also contains a sequestering agent that seeks out minerals in your wash water. It attatches to them and causes them to sink to the bottom of your wash bucket, and/or it prevents them from depositing onto your finish. NXT Car Wash offers better sudsing than Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner.

All Meguiar's car washes are non-detergent, pH balanced, high quality cleaning and conditioning washes.

I swear by the NXT shampoo, won't touch anything else. Hey Mike, I've finally given up the ghost on the previous color of the NXT, you were right, they are the same.

I would like to try the NXT wash, but Wal-Mart quit stocking it not long after they started selling it..........Go figure.

Thank goodness Target sells Gold Class shampoo by the gallon......2 rows deep!

One good thing that I like about this forum is that over time, more and more people will come here and get educated about Meguiar's products, and this should cause the stores to have to stock more of it, as it will be in demand.

I'm using Gold Class now, always have and really like it.

However, I am in San Diego and we have really hard water. My car is black. For that reason I'm going to try the NXT instead. I'm also going to be using some of the NXT wax and detailer.

I like to stay within a family of products as I feel they've probably been designed to work together optimally.
