I was having issues with M105 so I decided to try Ultimate Compound. I must say that I really like it! I usually don't buy the consumer line except for Gold Class soap but I thought why not. Glad I did. I know the cut is less aggressive then M105 but I really didn't need anything too aggressive anyway. It think it finished very nicely on my black car. I really liked the long work time.

I had a slight issue but I know what I was doing wrong. To much product! I know it's been said so many time but definitely can't use to much compound. I usually don't have a need for compound except for just spots so doing an entire vehicle is definitely different. Even though I tried to remove excess product from my polishing pad, it just became so saturated around half way through. I put on a new pad, primed it and was back in business.

I haven't completely given up on M105 but Ultimate Compound is definitely a winner. The work time and finish is great. Even on black. If you have a need for compound, give it a try.

Yes, Ultimate Compound is a great product, relatively easy to use. If one is lucky enough and with good technique, one can get clear, haze free results. However, even if one can get away with this product alone, we all want to take it to another level of gloss, depth and shine, so a follow up product (SwirlX, Ultimate Polish, or a Pure polish) will really give that winning look.

Is UC very different from 105? I worked with 105 by hand recently and got fantastic results. Plus 105 is a lot cheaper.

UC is basically the consumer version of M105. UC isn't really designed for rotary buffer use (even if many here have tried with great results) and M105 is marginally more aggressive.

Not ready to bail on M105 yet. Ha Ha.

You know, I really liked UC but I did find one thing I didn't like. I used it on my own car and I noticed it fills in the tiny "road haze" on my front bumper and edge of the hood. The rest of the car came out great. Anyone else notice that with UC or even M105? Not the biggest deal but not time I use it I may wash the vehicle I use it on before moving to the polishing step or maybe try a QD. I didn't notice anything else were on the car, only the tiny chips filled with residue. It did work real nice though. Finished out a lot better then I thought a compound would. I was having a pain of a time hiding from the sun for some weird reason and I didn't notice that until later when I moved out into the sun.

              Re: Ultimate Compound

Ultimate Compound is our go-to in our Saturday Classes, and if you look through the picture threads from those classes you'll see why - we've gotten superb results on a huge variety of paint types with it, a W8207 pad and the G110v2. A lot of people may overlook UC just because it's a "consumer" product, but they don't realize that it's based directly on M105 and uses the same abrasive set.

UC should be mandatory in everyone's detailing arsenal, I used to think UC was an average product since it was available everywhere....was I wrong, I now have 2 bottles on my shelf.

I have both M105 and UC in my garage. M105 has not been opened yet.

Definitely a great product. Still impressed with the finish it leaves. Easy to use too. I only issue has a use a tad too much.

I do agree with your comment about people dismissing UC because it's not labeled "professional".

In my opinion, a better product than SwirlX. UC seems to be controllable in the result/finish it leaves behind. Work it in enough, it will correct even deeper swirls. If desired correction is achieved, work it in long enough, and it can finish virtually mar-free, clear and glossy, virtually ready for wax. But even if it leaves a wax ready finish, a milder cleaner, pure polish or glaze is always on hand to add that plus factor to the already (usually) great results it gives.
