  • UQW on natural carnauba wax?

    Hi,

I recently waxed my car Wirth Dodo Juice Supernatural Wax. This is a "non sealant" wax, no polymeres, no silicones.

So I tried a few Carnauba Detailers. None of them satisfied me as much as Ultimate Quick Wax.

So can I use Ultimate Quick Wax on my layer of natural wax without shortening the lifetime of my wax layer?

You might ask why? Because I absolutely love Ultimate Quick wax. It's my number one favourite spray protectant!

I often catch myself with the idea of only using Meguiars Ultimate Wash&Wax followed by Ultimate Quick Wax. So easy to use and soooo fast. (would that be recommendable? It feels a bit like "non perfect")

    What would you say?

Well, the car might explode... but other than that, should be ok....

Re: UQW on natural carnauba wax?

As with most of the high end carnauba waxes on the market, and Dodo Juice Supernatural is among the best of those, longevity is not their strong suit - they are all about beauty, no matter how short lived that beauty might be. There's nothing at all wrong with that, so don't get us wrong here. We love the guys at Dodo Juice; great sense of humor, and they make some very nice waxes indeed.

That said, not only can you use our UQW over your Supernatural, you don't need to worry about it compromising the SN already on your car. But how often do you apply SN? Like we mentioned above, it's not a super durable, long lasting wax so under harsh conditions it won't last but a few weeks (and again, this is pretty typical of high end beauty waxes, not an indictment of the product). One could even argue that applying UQW with it's very durable polymers over a fresh application of SN might even prolong the life of the SN, but there isn't any solid science to back that up so it's just speculation. Bottom line - if you've applied SN and you really like UQW and want to apply it over the SN, go for it!

As for using just UWW and UQW, you just might be able to get away with it, as long as you're washing weekly and applying UQW after every wash. The polymers in it are extremely durable but you're not necessarily putting down much at all. But it will certainly outlast a carnauba beauty wax.

        Thanks for your replies!

Strange, Dodo Juice Supernatural is considered as lasting up to 6 months. At least from what i heard.

So if I want the "ultimate" Meguiars protection I would:

Wash - clay - Ultimate Polish - Ultimate Paste Wax and then maintain it with Ultimate Wash & Wax and Ultimate Quick Wax.

I've said this a million times on MOL, my MPV only has UQW on it and it's likely the nicest looking 2003 MPV around.
I apply it after every other wash and it beads water like crazy here in rainy Vancouver. Takes all of 10-15 minutes to do.
I have since switched to the more economical D156 spray wax.
