  • Another Black Wax review.

I was cleaning up my 2006 Mazda MX5 (Miata) this morning and decided to try out Meguiar's Black Wax.
The Miata has 77,000 miles on it and is not garaged. I had a few mild swirls and lots of water spots.

    Process:
Washed with Optimum No Rinse and towel dryed.
Clayed with the Nanoskin Autoscrub using the Flex 3401 DA polisher at low speed.
Polished with the Flex, Lake Country Tangerine Hydro-Tech Polishing Pad and Meguiar's 205.
Applied Black Wax using the Flex, Lake Country Kompressor Red Finishing Pad and low speed.

The Meguiar's 205 did not correct all the water spots, but that wasn't what I set out to do anyway. I do not intend to compound a 7 year old paint job on a frequent basis.
The Black Wax applied easily and came off easily with no trim staining. I would do two sections at a time and go back and wipe off the first section which worked well. Overall an excellent product which looks great. I doubt it will last as long as the Collinite 915 which it replaced, but it is so easy to use that I can live with that.

I will use this wax again

Looks great. You could try topping it with the 915 for more longevity?

Or some Ultimate Paste wax, much easier to apply and remove than the Collinite 915 I own.

I actually went with Ultimate Liquid and got a nice sun shot.

Looking good there Sludge! Love that saddle brown interior on a black car, too.

            Mr. Stoops,
You will be happy to know the leather was cleaned up using Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather and the trim with Ultimate Black. I really like Meguiar's latest products. I was attracted to the car by the brown interior.

            Thanks,
            Gordon
