  • Ultimate Wash & Wax color change

Hello all. Long time lurker, first time poster! Sorry if this has been discussed; I searched and wasn't able to come up with anything. I have been using Ultimate Wash & Wax for quite a while now and the other day noticed something for the first time. I noticed that my container was running low. I pulled out the new container I recently bought to get it ready to "go into service" and when I set them next to each other it was quite obvious that the color had changed... I can't say I have ever seen it do this before (or if it did I never noticed it). The older stuff looks like orange juice. Wasn't sure what this did to the effectiveness (if anything), so I went ahead and cracked open the new bottle. Anyone seen this before?

I bought 2 bottles a couple yrs ago, used up one bottle last summer, the 2nd bottle has been putaway unopened/sealed ..... While i'm not sure, my unopened bottle does somewhat looks like your orange juice bottle.....Hopefully Michael Stoops can shed some light on this

Yep, I bought a bunch of bottles on sale. A couple have been down in a cool, normally dark basement and their color has changed.

I think it has happened before, wasn't a big deal.

A bit of color drift with age is common with some products, and it's more common with certain colors that with others. It doesn't always happen, but when it does it's not something that impacts the efficacy of the product. From time to time we even see some color drift in manufacturing, but again, there's no negative impact on the product.

Great; thanks! I figured it was probably ok, but just wanted to see if it was something really out of the ordinary!

A little off topic here, but did no one else notice the DMC-12 in the background? Gorgeous car!

Thanks! Just wish Meguiar's had something for stainless steel!

No, something more along the lines of an aerosol or a spray cleaner. Metal polishes don't really work as you're really not looking for a polished shine on the stainless. I use the same cleaner on it that I use on my sink and appliances; works great!

I was sorta saying that tongue-in-cheek anyway; kinda like "man, that's the ONE car care product I can't get from Meguiar's!" Always kinda odd shopping for car care products in the kitchen cleaner section...
