  • NXT vs Gold Class

I really enjoy this forum. Other car crazy people just like me. Here is my question.

I have a bright red 2002 Ford Ranger Edge and my wife has a 2005 smoke Altima 3.5 SE. I have used NXT Tech liquid on both vehicles for the past 9 months.

They both look good. But I want to take them to the next level. You know the WOW factor!

Which product will give more depth to the paint? They both have high reflectivity. But I am looking for more depth. Maybe I am asking the impossible but I thought I would run it by the pro's on this forum.

    Many Thanks!

Most people here would saythat NXT will give you that WOW factor you are looking for. Personnaly, I prefer Gold Class on my Black Lincoln LS. It gives me a deeper, wetter shine.

I have a PC and use #83 followed by 2 coats of GC (applied at least 6 hours apart).

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so your mileage may vary.

PC=Porter Cable buffer. An absolute MUST for doing your car.

If you want depth, I believe #26 would be the wax of choice. DON'T WALK, RUN down to your local Autozone and, if you're lucky, they'll still have the paste version on clearance!

I have used NXT, Gold Class and #26 Hi-Tech Yellow wax on my 1997 Rio Red Mustang convertible.

This car has single stage paint, no clear.

I prefer the Gold Class and #26 more than the NXT on this car. It gets a very deep beautiful shine with the Gold Class and feels slick and smooth longer.

I noticed that washing and drying this car with Gold Class on it is much easier and I don't get smears or streaks from the Quick Detailer as badly as I did when it had NXT on it.

Here's a couple of pictures of the car after NXT Shampoo, Gold Class wax and Quick Detailer wipedown.

On my Velocity red Mazda3, (triple colour paint) I prefer NXT over Gold Class. They both look good but NXT gives the look that I prefer. (that is a deep wet appearance)

Gold Class in my experience takes bit of depth out of the paint and instead is a lot more reflective. Bit strange since it has carnauba in it

Really it comes down to preference. I think you'll have to use both and see what look you prefer.

I top the NXT with the GC on my 00 Electric Green Mustang...I wish I had a recent pic of it to show what it looks like (but the only nice days seem to be the ones that I'm stuck inside working all day!!). I think NXT adds depth, but GC really adds reflectivity, so I just use both. I used to use just the GC, and it looked great-then NXT came out and I used that by it self. my husband actually said my car didn't pop as much after the nxt, so I decided to try topping it with the GC, and have been ever since. I guess it's presonal preference-just make sure you use a paint cleaner then polish, and a good wax will just be the icing on the cake...

I have been waxing my car on a reagular basis through the rainy season and tonight for the first time in almost a year I had the opportunity to do the paint cleaner (deep crystal), the polish (also deep crystal) and then the wax (NXT) In my opinion the NXT gives my paint a deeper wetter look than GC did. Maybe I will try the combination though. Top NXT with GC on my red Saturn.

I prefer the Gold Class paste. Works well. It gives the finish a nice clear shine. I prefer this look over the NXT, which has been pointed out, gives a wetter look. I am shine guy myself, but to each his own. Both products work well.
