  • A few product questions regarding new white car

just picked up a 2013 white charger,
i plan to give it its first wash & wax in the next two weeks or so, and had some questions. I already own the following: ultimate compound, ultimate polish, & scratch X.

    1) is there a benefit to using ultimate polish on a white car? I thought it was more of a dark color car thing.

    2) If i determine i need to clean the paint after washing can i use scratch X or is there something better?

    3) I was looking at the following wax 1) Ultimate Wax Liquid, 2) NXT, 3) White Wax? what do you guys think I should go with.

    4) best tire gloss that will minimize the amount of spray that kicks up on the car when driving.

    thanks

Re: A few product questions regarding new white car

    1) Assuming that some dirt may have landed on the car during transport, etc, you would probably at least want the cleaning ability of UP to remove the dirt. And polishing oils will still have a moisturizing effect, even if not as visible.

    2) UP has a mild cleaning ability.

    3) 1 and 3.

I would look at two processes:

    -Wash
    -Clay as needed
    -UP
    -Ult. Wax
    -Ult. Wax

    -Wash
    -Clay as needed
    -White Wax
    -Ult. Wax

    4) I dunno. But have an old towel to blot the tires after applying.

Re: A few product questions regarding new white car

When I bought my new white 08 Malibu LTZ I polished and waxed her that first weekend, washed her with the Gold Class shampoo and the paint was slick as glass, polished her out with M07 polish and gave her two coats of Gold Class paste wax, the first coat of wax was given 24 hrs to cure then the second coat was applied, very, very happy with the results, today 5yrs later the paint is still in great shape thanks to regular use of Meguiars spray wax and spray detailer
pic is after her first polish and wax.

Re: A few product questions regarding new white car

Finally had some time to clean her up.
Used some scratch X mostly on front bumper and hood, next used ultimate polish, and finally ultimate liquid wax.

not sure how well these photos show finished product since it was dark by the time i was done and i used my phone camera.

One question I have is, can i use the polish and wax on the front grill insert the chrome colored part which i believe is plastic? If not what product should I used on it.

Thanks again for all the help,

When i preview my post the photos i tried to upload just show a box with red x no idea why

Yeah, you can polish and wax the chrome stuff, just be gentler on it.
