I just finished waxing a new black paint job on a mustang. The paint is flawless, totally cured. I tried m26 on it, looks good, but was wondering if it could look better. I picked up the Ultimate wax, liquid. Is it ok to put over the M26? I wanted to see if it would give a deeper look to the black or not.

Re: Ultimate wax over m26
No harm in trying. What you get with Ultimate Wax that you won't get with M26 is durablity. However, M26 can beat the Ultimate Wax for looks. Ultimate should give crisper, sharper or even brighter reflections, the overall look may be barely noticeable. Some may disagree ot find this redundant, but if I really want to add more to the black paint, I'd apply M07 before applying M26 or whatever Megs sealant I have. Ok m07 can be a pain to use, but It does add a lot more depth and richness to paint and can really add a lot to black or dark paint finishes.
If you really insist on layering M26 over Ultimate wax, you may lose the benefits ultimate wax has to offer (like the hydrophobic polymer or the crisp look it has).

Re: Ultimate wax over m26
Ok, if i were to remove the M26, what is the best way? Hot water with dawn soap? Sounds like the Ultimate Wax isn't going to be the look i was after, i'll use it on the DD. I would like to try the M07 with the M26. The M26 has to be removed first though right?

Re: Ultimate wax over m26
Dawn would be the easier, more convenient way, as long as you don't do it too often or you can also use a relatively mild solvent (like tar removers or kerosene) to remove old wax.. You can also do the entire clay, clean and mild paint cleaner to remove the old wax, might as well remove some paint defects with it and improve the shine before applying M07 and M26.
Now as to which wax will be removed first really won't matter, but most likely the wax that was applied the latest will be removed first. Paint cleaning (with SwirlX, or Ult. Compound) will remove wax any way so just use your respective process and apply M07 and M26 to your car. Maintain it with Quick Detailers (GOld Class or Ultimate) and Quick waxes (Gold Class/Ultimate).
For that dark, rich classy look, Gold Class may work best for you. Although the ultimates also gives that rich look, but gold class wins in the looks department.

Re: Ultimate wax over m26
All i need to do is remove the wax, no need for a clay bar, the paint surface is perfect, no defects. Maybe i'll just try the Gold Class if you think that will give the best look. So many choices to choose from.
Honestly, which do you think will produce the best look? M07 and M26 or Gold Class Plus? I'm looking for a deep look to the black to enhance the flawless paint.

Re: Ultimate wax over m26
Gols Class Carnauba Plus, since it has polishing oils in it. M26 is a pure wax, that's why it's usually paired with M07. Gold Class shampoo may be too mild to remove wax. Dawn would be better at removing old wax. After removing the old wax, apply M07 followed by M26. Honeltly, even if were using GOld Class wax, i would still apply M07. Maybe redundant but Meguiar's doesn't recommend against doing that. Gold Class would give the deepest, richest look. I'd go for the paste version if i were you.

Re: Ultimate wax over m26
Honestly, nope. That particular time I used Carlack 68 (basically the same as Klasse twins) followed it up with Collinite 845. Being a daily driver, it doesn't get as much care as it can so even if the products I used have reputation for great durability, it doesn't really last as long as it should. But I have used M26, it does give deep shine as well.
