  • Help!! Hot rims cleaner stained my rotors and calipers

I followed the instructions on cleaning the rims one at a time, I oversprayed the rims which went on the calipers and rotors. I cleaned my rims within 10-15 seconds like with a brush and rinse. Now i noticed my rotors and calipers are discolored!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here are the pics. does anyone know how to fix this?

The calipers don't look discolored at all. The rotors are discolored because the moisture caused some flash rust to form on them, which is completely normal. It will all go away next time you drive the car and apply the brakes.

I saw the same thing when testing All Wheel on my new car and did the same *reaction until I looked closer. This is the same thing as if you were to leave your vehicle out in the rain and not drive it for a day or so.

Perfectly normal, but yes it looks ugly as sin

Guys, please do not use acronyms that contain foul words. Everyone knows what "that" acronym stood for, and it isn't appropriate here. Please take a minute to review the forum rules if you have any questions about what is, or isn't OK to post.

As for the rotors, just as others said, that is flash rust that will go away as soon as you drive a bit. Very normal and happens all the time.

The surface rust on the rotors is caused by the water, not the wheel cleaner. The rotors are steel and a little surface rust is normal when they get wet. You may not see it after a rain because by the time you get out of the car and look at them you've been applying the brakes, essentially cleaning off any real moisture that was present. Rust at that point may be almost nil. Next time you wash the car, try skipping the wheel cleaner and just spraying the brakes with water and let them dry. You'll have the same surface rust present until the next time you apply the brakes - even just backing out of the driveway will clean them off.

I always find my brakes perform better after using the All Wheel Cleaner...who cares what it looks like?
