  • 3.8lt Soft Wash (Australia)

I have been buying the Meguiar's 3.8 litre bottle of Soft Wash for years.

I now find out that it's been discontinued in Australia.

They still sell the small 473ml bottle, however, at about $17.00 a bottle it will cost me a fortune as I use a pressure washer.

Is this just Meguiar's getting greedy, or is there a genuine reason to discontinue the 3.8lt bottle?

Soft Wash Gel (we assume this is the product you're referring to) hasn't been available domestically in the US in anything larger than 16 oz bottles for several years, so larger packaging was likely done for a specific market. Unfortunately, we are phasing out this product completely from our domestic lineup so it may be going away completely in Australia as well. Even if it does remain available in Australia or elsewhere, it is up to the distributor in each geographic area to decide which products they will and won't stock. We don't dictate that to them.

Meguiar's Australia told me that they would love to continue selling the 3.8lt bottle, it's just that Meguiar's USA will not supply it anymore at a reasonable cost.

I suggested that Meguiar's Aust import the gel in bulk and bottle here, they said that Meguiar's USA refused the request.

So, if what I am told is correct, the problem of non supply is a Meguiar's USA decision and not Meguiar's Aust discontinuing the product.

I was also told by their tech bloke that there is no comparable wash product that is as thick as the Soft Wash Gel.

Guess I will have to look for another brand to use in my pressure washer.

You can use other soaps in a pressure washer as far as I know. What other Meguiars soaps are available in Australia?

Gold Class is one of the thicker soaps on the market and one of the best soaps out there. Best of all it is sold OTC.

I would think thinner would work better, but I could be wrong.

Meguiar's Super Soap would be your best replacement (best product for foam guns/ cannons and pressure washers):

ironbark, Soft Wash Gel is at the bottom of Megs carwash pecking order. I've used it and found it pretty ordinary. If you like it, you'll be impressed with NXT. Much better cleaning and works better when using hard water. It's pretty affordable too, esp during the current Easter sales.
