  • Advice on polish needed

    Howsit ladies and gents

It has been ages since my lost loggin.

I need some advise on some megs polishes. Must be honest I am a bit lazy to serach now, as I just bought my DA polisher and want to get going as soon as possible.

I have the following polishes and goodies:

    1. Clay bar + quick detailer
    2. Cleaner wax - I used this as I was polishing my car only by hand.
    3. Ulimate compound
    4. Gold Glass Carnuba wax
    5. DA Polisher

How aggressive is the Ultimate compound?

I am looking for a polish that I can use every 18 months or so just to remove some blemishes and fine swirls, should I be looking at Swirl X?

I am very worried that I might damage the clear coat when it comes to using a polish, as I have some older cars and a 2010 model car.

How aggressive is the Deep Crystal Polish? I wax my cars every 3 months, but would like a polish that is not aggressive at all to use evry 6 months and then maybe something a bit more aggressive every 18 months or so.

Any advice will be appreciated as I have never used a DA polisher before.

    Thanks

    Re: Advice on polish needed

You would want to use Ult. Compound the first time to get the defects off, then something milder like SwirlX or Ult. Polish for the regular use. Ult. Polish being the milder.

Deep Crystal polish wont have any cleaning ability at all, for dirt or defects.

      Re: Advice on polish needed

Deep Crystal Polish contains no abrasives at all so you could use it every month without issue. Of course, it also contains no protection so you would have to wax after using it.

SwirlX and Ultimate Polish, as well as M205 on the Mirror Glaze Pro side are quite mild, especially if used by hand or on a DA with a finishing pad at a low setting. You could easily use any of these every few months without worry.

Ultimate Compound is going to be aggressive enough to remove moderate defects, depending on how aggressively you use it. Obviously, the more effectively you can prevent the introduction of new swirls and other defects the less frequently you need to use an aggressive product to remove them. Be extra cautious during your washing and drying process and you'll go a long way toward preventing swirls in the first place.

        Thanks for the replies!

@ Mike : What polish would you recomend to use for regular polishing?

When giving my car the full treatment, I would like to start with clay, then a polish with very low abrassives(for very minor imperfections) and then finish of with Carnauba wax.

I would like to use my DA when doing this.

        Thanks
