I'm a big fan of A12. Love topping it with Gold Class liquid wax.

This begs three questions. How is it stronger, more abrasive? Is it as easy to use? Does the wax protection suffer or benefit?

I agree with Tuck. M66 is great! Recently waxed a severely oxidized fire truck for our open house by hand and the results were amazing. I followed it up with a topping of UW paste and I'm sure, wherever it is (recently went to shop for repairs) its still looking good.

Cleaner wax was the first product that got me started with Meguiars and now I seldom use it. I often look past it for the more high end products that Meguiars offers to keep a beautiful shine on both of my Black BMW's. Im also completley ocd with the appearance of the finish and use my D/A for every thing.

Like BillyJack said, "A12 fills all the requirements. It's about as effortless and idiot-proof as a wax can be, inexpensive and available everywhere. Rarely has anyone been disappointed."

Cleaner wax is an awsome product ecsipacily for daily drivers. Have to older black veichles it works great. Hides swirls and leaves a glossy and smooth finish. Is extremely is to put on and remove. It has to be one of the most overlooked products. IMO

I also love #6 cleaner wax. I use it for my wash and wax pkge but combine it with Collonite 476s on my DA pad. 2 dots of #6 and 2 dots of 476s for 1 panel. Great results and long lasting protection.

I was wondering what is the abrasiveness of #6 compared to say UC and the like compounds?

Any of our cleaner waxes, from M06 to M66 and even D151 have much less cut than UC or similar. D151 will be the most aggressive of them all, however, especially considering it's designed for use from as mild as a finishing pad on a DA to a wool pad on a rotary. Huge difference in cut with just those options, even though the liquid remains the same.

Cleaner wax, or AIO's have become my staple, great quick detail with ColorX and Ultimate Liquid wax, doesn't get much easier than that with the DA, and the results are so nice. I find regular use of them, and the cars look better and better. What's not to like. Every 3 months for me with some UQW and UQD in between.

I recently used some Poorboys Polish with Sealant, followed by Collinite 845 and Optimum Car Wax (spray) on the hoods of my car. Same simple set up as the Meguiars combo I listed, but more of carnauba look with good durability.

What is the difference between claying and using a cleaner wax other than claying won't leave any wax protection behind. Would you clay if you plan on using Ult Compound and Ult polish (a more thorough detail) and use a cleaner wax if just doing a "quick" detail?

                            2 different steps.

Clay removes things bonded to the surface.

The cleaners in the paint cleaner will remove dirt from the pores/imperfections, and if strong enough, remove some defects. Plus some polishing oils and wax in the end.

An applicator pad can actually just bounce over the bonded on things (applying cleaner/wax or other). So just have to determine what you need or have time for.

So if you clay and plan on using UC and UP is cleaner wax not really that necessary? Maybe use a cleaner wax in between claying then? Again Murr, thanks for helping me out! I know some of this detailing thing is trial and error and seeing what works best for a given situation/result you're trying to achieve, but advice from others that have been there done that is incredibly helpful to getting some of pointed in the right direction.

Re: Cleaner Wax is truly a great product -- if you haven't tried it, do so!

Well, if you are going to do a detail and cover all the steps, you want to move from through the 5-srep process, and from stronger cleaners to milder as needed.

So, the cleaner/wax type products cover the clean/polish/wax step, and are usually a milder cleaner.

Some people have had cases of using a strong cleaner, then a cleaner/wax. But you wouldnt want to use a cleaner/wax, then UC, or cleaner/wax then polish, becasue you would be going backwards in the order of steps.

So it would tend to look like this:

                                1. Wash
                                2. Clay if needed
                                3. Clean
                                4. Polish
                                5. Wax
                                6. Wax

                                or:

                                1. Wash
                                2. Clay if needed
                                3. Clean/Polish/Wax - Cleaner/Wax
                                4. Wax
