  • NXT help!!!

    Hi

I was just wondering does 2 coats of NXT give the motor any protection????

Is 1 coat of NXT and a coat of DC3 any better than just 2 coats of NXT for protection??

    Thanks

    dave,

I would say no. Meguiar's claims that NXT is their longest lasting protective coating. With that said, I would think that 2 x NXT would probably be better. How much better? Who knows?

You could always try a couple of similar panels (horizontal or vertical) with each combination, and see what you think.

      Thanks m8.

So 2 coats of NXT (12hrs) between is a great protection?

What i am going to try after i have Claying/Scratch X the motor again is try #16 wax over 2 coats of NXT.

Should that be a even better protection???

      Thanks

Depending on ambient temperature, you should allow the NXT to cure 12-24 hrs. after the 2nd coat of NXT before you apply the #16.

So apply 1st coat and wait 12-24hrs.
Then apply 2nd coat and wait 12-24hrs.
          Then apply #16 wax.

          That right m8??

Sadly i will run out of time

I only have time for 2 coats of NXT.
Can i not just put #16 over the top of NXT after waiting a couple of hours???

If you're pressed for time, you can layer the #16 a few hours after the application of NXT. Your durability isn't going to diminish drastically by doing this.

If you already have the 2 coats of NXT on, just go ahead and put the #16 on now.

I am going to use #16 once i have clayed/scratched X the motor.

If you're talking about the actual engine, I don't think #16 is going to last very long being that it is an organic wax. The high heat produced in the engine bay will cause it to dissapate rather quickly. NXT is probably your best bet as it is a synthetic sealant and able to withstand much more heat.

I think by "motor" he means the entire, car not the engine. He's from the UK and I think that is another way of saying "car." If you clay and use Scratch X, you will have removed all waxes and sealants from the finish. As a result, you will have to start all over with NXT. You can go straight to the #16, but you will not have the benefits of the NXT then.

                            Sorry for the mix up.
I think i will use #16 once i have clayed/scratched X the whole car because it has light swirls.

I have heard that #16 Wax is hard to remove once on the car for a while, so it would be silly to apply #16 now and in a few weeks clay the car and take it all off.

would it be bad to apply 2 coats of NXT w/out waiting 12 hours in between coats? If this is okay, you may have the time to still apply #16. Just a thought. Anyone agree or disagree?
