  • when using ultimate compound...

on a red 2000 focus should you be getting red on your polishing pad?
or should you not because of the clear coat?
i was bringing back a very faded bonnet come out perfect using uc the swirl x hen polish finished with a wax.. all my pads look red when i finished except my wax..
but when watchin the vids the pads never seem to colour?

    cheers

    Re: when using ultimate compound...

Your pads came out red because you have single stage paint and not clear coat.

You should be using your polishing pad when using the Ultimate Compoun.

also you are going to need a few pads for fine finishing......
single stage polishing is a bit hard on pads.......

        okay thanks guys..
i would have thought that a 2000 focus had clear coat...
i was gentle with it just in case..

i have read the check using paint cleaner and a pad... will always use that test method in future..

        cheers

i shall get some seperate pads for when doing single stage paint..

          Re: when using ultimate compound...

While the majority of modern cars have BC/CC systems, some modern cars still have single stage paints (last gen Mitsubishi EVO Red comes to mind). Single stage paints are actually quite rewarding to correct, but as some posters stated you will need several pads.
