  • My first use with Ultimate Wax

I have been a big fan of NXT 2.0 on my 02 dark red Saturn L300. Today I decided to try the new Ultimate Wax. Washed, clayed then ColorX on most and 151 on the bad swirls. I used the G110 with yellow polishing pad with the ColorX and the bad areas used red cutting pad and 151. The black finishing pad was used to apply the UW. I applied just enough to see it was covering. Wipe off with MF towels. The first difference I noticed between UW and NXT2.0 was the extra effort it took to wipe the UW cleanly off with no smears. However, it was well worth the effort! The end result was truely a deep WET look that was noticably better than the NXT results....even though I have been happy there too. As others have said, getting the UW on the black trim actually made it look better. I was working outside and some parts were done in the shade and some had to be done in the sun. No noticable difference in effort or results between sun/shade.

    Nice! Pics?

I am really a fan of Ultimate Wax. It goes on really easy even on hot black finishes and requires less efforts t remove than other waxes. I feel it removes easier than NXT 2.0 especially in the hot sun. It also imparts an amazing shine and hides swirls really well.

Well, after moving the car around and into the sun...splotchy. I used the water spritz and wipe suggested to even out the finish. There is no way I could have used less wax, coverage was assured by overlapping passes horizontally and then vertically. Based on my first use.....l feel it's more work than NXT so takes longer to do. Results are better though.

I've never used NXT 2.0, but have used M21 and even bought a 64 oz. bottle, but since Ultimate Wax came out the M21 sits on the shelf. I was sold on the "ULW has better longevity".

I just wondering if the "splotchy" would have faded on it's own in a day or so. Although most of us probably couldn't wait a day or so!!

I would imagine it is difficult to photograph. Did you happen to try and photograph it before you did your water/spritz/wipe??

Sorry, no pics.....couldn't stand the look, drives me crazy. I will say I have tried other waxes that claimed the "wet look" but this is the first one that really did it.

It sounds as though you applied it to the whole car, waited a bit and then wiped off, right? Much the same way you've been using NXT?

Give this a shot next time - apply it to two or three panels and then wipe off before applying any further. This should give a 3 - 5 minute dry time prior to wipe off. Even though that may sound really quick and even contrary to what Meguiar's has always said about letting waxes dry fully, it seems to make UWL a bit easier to work in cases where this streaking occurs.

Actually, I had read many/most of the posts on it's application and only applied it to the hood. Did several test wipes....it seemed to remain somewhat oily with the swipe test after maybe 6-8 minutes so I wiped it off anyway. Tried the next panel, half the roof, and waited a lot longer thinking it had to dry more. Didn't really make any difference. As to how heavy it was applied, just enough to see it was actually on the surface due to the posts reminding us thin is in.

I can confirm that the above method works best. I tried it waiting 3-5 mins then for the second coat I let it sit. Wiping it off sooner rather than later works the best for me.

                Thanks for the tip Mike!
