  • Tried Ultimate Wax--Observations

I waxed my car with ULW a few weeks ago after a thorough prepping using clay on the whole car and some spot clean up with Scratch-X. I have used NXT 2.0 for a while, and always applied it to the whole car then wiped off. Sometimes it even needed additional dry time to pass the swipe test but it always came off easily. On my car, I did the same thing with ULW and it was VERY HARD to remove. I buffed as much as possible...it wasn't passing the swipe test...I even waited an hour and it still would not completely buff out. It left streaks and darkened spots on the dark blue paint. After a couple washings and a wipe down with UQD, it looks good now. It has a very deep shine, deeper than NXT 2.0, and it darkens/shine black trim.

So this last weekend I did my wife's car and read on here to go section by section. I would apply to about 1/4 of the car, then immediately wipe it off after about 3 minutes. It wiped right off and looks great immediately (that car was also prepped with clay and spot Scratch-X). It is also a darker color, brown, and I see no streaks or dark spots. My question...why the difference? Should I now switch my method with this new wax to section by section? Everything I used in the past, Cleaner Wax, Gold Class Wax, etc. worked by doing the entire car.

i've done it both ways and had no streaking issues. The first time may have been too thick.
